Paul Durousseau was born in Beaumont Texas on August 11, 1970. Soon after his birth his family would move to Los Angeles California after his father deserted the family.
Paul Durousseau would be arrested a couple of times for having an unconcealed hand gun. In 1992 Paul would enlist in the United States Army and would be stationed in Germany for a number of years. In 1996 Paul Durousseau would be transferred to Fort Benning Georgia and within a year he would be charged with the sexual assault of a teenage girl, however he would later be cleared of the charges. In 1997 Paul would be charged with being in possession of stolen goods and would be court martial in 1999 and would be dishonorably dischared.

In 2003 the body of Nikia Kilpatrick was found inside of her apartment, Nikia had been sexually assaulted and murdered by strangulation with a cord. Nikia was six months pregnant at the time of her death
Later in 2003 Shawanda Denise McCalister was found sexually assaulted and murdered in her apartment. Like Nikia she was pregnant at the time of her death
The bodies of seventeen year old Jovanna Jefferson and nineteen year old Surita Cohen were found at the bottom of a ditch in close proximity to each other. Police believe the two women had been murdered ten days apart.

Death Row inmate Paul Durousseau has been brought back to the Duval County jail ahead of a hearing next week on his re-sentencing.
Durousseau was convicted in the 1999 murder of 24-year-old Tyresa Mack, one of seven murders he was accused of committing from 1997 to 2003 in Jacksonville and Georgia.
After his conviction, prosecutors opted not to try him in the other murders.
Durousseau’s death sentence was thrown out in 2017 by the Florida Supreme Court, which ordered a new sentencing hearing. The high court rejected arguments for a new trial.

Paul Durousseau, a cab driver who befriended the women whom he was accused of killing, was sentenced to death in 2007. He became known as ”the “Cabbie Killer.”
Under a new Supreme Court opinion Durousseau will have to be resentenced in the wake of a new Supreme Court order that found some death sentences in Florida unconstitutional.

Durousseau was a taxi driver convicted in the 1999 murder of Tyresa Mack. He was sentenced to death in 2007.

Tuesday’s decision cited a January 2016 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a case known as Hurst v. Florida, saying, “Durousseau’s death sentence was imposed under an unconstitutional capital sentencing statute.”
The trial jury split on the death sentence was 10-2. The state Supreme Court threw out the death sentence since the jury was not unanimous.
