Alexander Hernandez Case

A teenage boy is in custody after he stabbed another teen to death and wounded an adult during an ambush at a sleepover, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced.

The attack occurred at a home in Wildwood just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. According to officials, deputies arrived at the home and saw that a 15-year-old boy and one adult had been stabbed.

Investigators said the 15-year-old was hosting a sleepover when the suspect, later identified as Alexander Warren Hernandez, 16, arrived unannounced and “banged” on the door.

When the victim, identified as Connor Michael Gill, went to unlock the door, deputies said Hernandez forced his way inside the home and stabbed Gill. He then threatened a third victim before stabbing an adult who came to check on the commotion.

Hernandez then took off on foot and was arrested shortly after with assistance from the sheriff’s office helicopter. Officials said he still had the murder weapons in his possession.

Both stabbing victims were airlifted to an area hospital for further medical attention. Gill was later pronounced dead, and the adult victim was still being treated for his injuries.

Officials said Hernandez was taken to the Sumter County Jail and charged with premeditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and armed burglary.

Authorities said both Gill and Hernandez had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were being homeschooled.

During a press conference on Sunday, Sumter County Undersheriff Pat Breeden said this was a premeditated and targeted attack.

“Alexander told detectives he had ordered the two weapons last Thursday online. The weapons arrived on Saturday. He unpacked the weapons, played with them a little bit, and then he walked nearly six miles to the victim’s residence,” Breeden said.

Authorities said additional charges may be filed against Hernandez.

Breeden added that the motive for the attack is still being determined.

Police asked the public to be on the look out for 19-year-old Adrian Cameron, Jr. who is free on bond after 50-year-old Josh Evans was killed in September 2021 during what police called an attempted drug transaction.

Cameron was 17 at the time of the 2021 shooting and was charged with criminal homicide as a juvenile. A grand jury later indicted him as an adult on charges of voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon with intent to use it during a crime.

As a condition of his bond, Cameron was required to wear an ankle monitor. Data from the monitor shows it was cut off shortly after the shooting Saturday, police said.

Christopher Cheeks, 32, known as Chris King, was shot Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. in an alleyway between Hayes and Church Streets in the Midtown area of Nashville. A 29-year-old friend of Cheeks was also injured in the shooting.

Police said Cheeks was with friends when three men walked up and began chatting with them.

“The 29-year-old victim reported the group was hanging out cordially for some time before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends,” police said in a statement. “It was then that he heard gunfire and realized he was struck.”

Cheeks and his friends scattered, fleeing in separate directions. Cheeks was found in the parking garage of the Hayes Street Hotel, while his friend was found on Church Street. Both were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Cheeks ultimately died.

Christopher Horne Jr Charged In Kayla Rincon-Miller Murder

Christopher Horne Jr is an alleged teen killer from Florida who has been charged as an adult for the murder of Kayla Rincon-Miller

According to police reports Kayla Rincon-Miller was walking with a group of friends when she was approached by a vehicle driven by Thomas Stein when she would be fatally shot by Christopher Horne Jr. Police believe the purpose behind the shooting was a robbery gone wrong

Thomas Stein was arrested first where he would be charged with robbery and murder

A month later Christopher Horne Jr would be arrested and has been charged with robbery and murder

Christopher Horne Jr News

The second teenager arrested in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller faced a judge Thursday.

Christopher Devon Horne Jr., 16, of Cape Coral, arrested Wednesday by Cape Coral police, appeared before Lee Circuit Judge Gilberto Perez, who ordered he will be held in juvenile detention for 21 days and was ordered no contact with Rincon-Miller’s family or Thomas Stein, 16, the other teenager arrested in the case.

Horne, who faces charges of principal to a homicide while engaged in a robbery, is next due in court May 6. Meanwhile, Stein’s case was moved to adult court April 11.

During an April 11 hearing, after the testimony of Cape Coral police Detective Michael Lasalandra, Lee Circuit Judge Robert Branning ruled that Thomas Stein be held without bond related to the March 17 shooting. He will be tried as an adult

Lasalandra, who’s been a detective at Cape Coral police’s Violent Crimes Unit for four years, said he was working March 17 and responded to the shooting of Rincon-Miller at Southeast 20th Street and Southeast 16th Lane.

Lasalandra said Rincon-Miller died at a hospital. The police detective said he spoke with two witnesses who were with Rincon-Miller, and they gave descriptions of the people who robbed them.

Lasalandra revealed that surveillance footage captured the car, but not the murder. When they ran the license plate, he said, it showed the vehicle was a rental registered to Hertz.

A search warrant revealed the SUV was rented to Thomas Stein’s mother, Jessica Stein. Lasalandra said Hertz has a GPS tracking system that helped them place the rented SUV at the scene.

While a preliminary report from Cape Coral police indicated investigators didn’t believe Thomas Stein was the shooter, Lasalandra said that piece of the puzzle remained under investigation as of April 11.

Cape Coral police Chief Anthy Sizemore on Wednesday didn’t confirm Horne’s role in the homicide.

“There will be a few,” Sizemore said when asked Wednesday if any further arrests are expected in Rincon-Miller’s death.

Police reports indicate at least two individuals brandished firearms when the SUV blinded Rincon-Miller and her two friends with its headlights

He was arrested on Wednesday, April 17, one month to the day after Rincon-Miller was violently gunned down following an attempted robbery in Cape Coral. She, and two friends, were walking to a McDonald’s after going to the movies.

Horne, Jr. is charged as a principal to a homicide while engaged in a robbery, the exact charges as Thomas Stein, a 16-year-old who faces charges as an adult.

Stein was arrested on March 19, two days after Rincon-Miller’s murder, accused of being the getaway driver during the robbery.

Thomas Stein News

About 48 hours after a Cape Coral teen’s shooting death, Cape Coral Police say they’ve arrested a teen linked to the Sunday night slaying.

Lisa Greenberg, spokesperson with Cape Coral Police, said officers arrested Thomas Roy Stein, 16, of North Fort Myers, who faces homicide charges. He was in court early Wednesday.

The News-Press doesn’t typically name minors charged with crimes but is doing so because of the severity of the charge.

“Our detectives know there are others involved in this homicide, and there is still more work to be done,” police said in a news release. “Cape Coral Police Department detectives’ diligent work around the clock continues today to narrow this investigation.”

Stein is accused in the Sunday night death of Kayla Rincon-Miller, 15, of Cape Coral. She and two friends had left a movie theater and were walking to a nearby McDonald’s.

One of the girls told detectives a car pulled up about 10:30 p.m. and blinded them with its lights before an unknown number of suspects jumped out of the car and tried to rob them.

Police report a witness said one person began to shoot, striking Rincon-Miller in the chest. The other two girls were not injured. The witness said she didn’t know who the shooter was.

Greenberg also said police have located the SUV, a silver Nissan Pathfinder rented by Stein’s mother.

She said the investigation continues and did not answer questions at the news conference, including if the mother would face charges as an accessory.

Greenberg said that, based on the evidence, police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence

A witness who lives near the intersection of Southeast 20th Street and Southeast 16th Place, who wished to remain anonymous, said she heard about three gunshots.

She started a memorial in honor of Rincon-Miller on Monday, and added that “this could’ve been anyone’s child.”

On Monday evening, Cape Coral police forensics investigators and at least one K9 unit from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office began canvassing the area for evidence.

Forensics investigators with the police department placed at least five evidence markers at the scene.

Jail records indicate Stein is due in court April 8 for his arraignment. Cape Coral Police didn’t immediately confirm if either of his parents will face charges.

The department has been in touch with Rincon-Miller’s family to update them, Greenberg said. The family has a GoFundMe set up to raise money for funeral expenses. By Wednesday morning, it had raised nearly $9,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cape Coral Police Department at (239) 574-3223.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, who may be reached at 1-800-780-TIPS, are offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 for anyone whose anonymous tips help lead to an arrest. They said doorbell camera video may also be submitted.
