Authorities on Friday arrested Tanner Lynn Horner, a FedEx contract driver, and said he is accused of kidnapping and killing a 7-year-old North Texas girl after making a delivery to her home. Horner, 31, is from Fort Worth. He does not appear to have a prior criminal record in Tarrant or Wise counties. He was being held Friday night in the Wise County Jail on $1.5 million bond and faces charges of capital murder of a person under 10 years old and aggravated kidnapping in the death of Athena Strand. Athena’s body was found Friday evening, two days after she was reported missing by her stepmother.

Authorities said Horner has confessed to the crime. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin would not speak to any possible motive in the kidnapping and homicide. He said investigators don’t believe that Horner knew Athena or her family.

Horner’s social media accounts say he has been an Uber driver, is a musician and graduated from Azle High School.

FedEx issued a statement late Friday: “Words cannot describe our shock and sorrow at the reports surrounding this tragic event. First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family during this most difficult time, and we continue to cooperate fully with the investigating authorities. At this time, any further questions should be directed to law enforcement.”

Uber said Saturday that Horner has not driven on the app in months and that he has been banned from the platform. Although authorities said at the news conference that Horner was believed to be from Lake Worth, property records show his address is in the Fort Worth city limits, on the west side of the lake.

“To be clear, the suspect does NOT reside in the City of Lake Worth, but rather near the lake itself – miles away from COLW,” Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian wrote on Twitter. “Please continue to lift up Athena’s family in prayer along with the officers investigating this heinous crime.”

According to police reports Patrick Xavier Clark allegedly shot and killed Takeoff after a dispute over a dice game. Last month police in Houston Texas arrested Cameron Jacobs aka Lil Cam for gun possession that is believed to be linked to the Takeoff murder. During the Takeoff murder two other people were shot and sustained serious injuries. Houston Police have said that Takeoff was not taking part in the dice game and was an innocent bystander.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge in the shooting of rapper Takeoff, who police on Friday said was an “innocent bystander” when he was struck by gunfire outside a Houston bowling alley.

Patrick Xavier Clark was taken into custody peacefully on Thursday night, Houston police Chief Troy Finner said. Clark’s arrest came one day after another man was charged in connection with the Nov. 1 shooting, which authorities said followed a dispute over a dice game and wounded two other people.

Patrick Xavier Clark was being held in jail on Friday awaiting a bond hearing. Court records do not list a lawyer who could speak for him but indicate he was arrested as he was preparing to leave the country for Mexico.

Born Kirsnick Khari Ball, Takeoff was the youngest member of Migos, a Grammy-nominated rap trio from suburban Atlanta that also featured his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset.

The 28-year-old musician was one of three people police said were shot outside the downtown Houston bowling alley at about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 1, when a dispute erupted as about 40 people were leaving a private party.

Police have said another man and a woman suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries during the shooting, in which at least two people opened fire.

Police Sgt. Michael Burrow said during a Friday news conference that the shooting followed a dispute over a “lucrative” game of dice but that Takeoff was not involved and was “an innocent bystander.” Finner said police do not know whether Patrick Xavier Clark was invited to the party or if he knew Takeoff.

Every person on the scene left without talking to police, Burrow said. Some of those people have since been located by the authorities, who have also worked to piece together events with ballistics, video and audio recordings, according to Burrow. He said investigators are still trying to track down witnesses.

“We will be looking to find you,” he said. “It will be easier if you come find us.”

On Wednesday, authorities announced the arrest of Cameron Joshua in connection with the shooting. Joshua was charged with illegally having a gun at the time Takeoff was shot, but prosecutors said the 22-year-old is not believed to have fired the weapon. Christopher Downey, Joshua’s lawyer, told reporters that he has not seen anything to suggest that his client was involved in Takeoff’s killing.

Burrow said that investigators believe it was Clark’s gunfire that killed the rapper.

Prosecutors on Friday asked a court to set Clark’s bond at $1 million US, arguing he is a flight risk. After Takeoff’s shooting, Patrick Xavier Clark applied for an expedited passport by submitting the itinerary for an “imminent” flight to Mexico, according to court records. They say he was arrested the day he received the passport and was in possession of a “large amount” of cash.

Migos’s record label, Quality Control, mourned Takeoff’s death in a statement posted on Instagram that attributed it to “senseless violence.”

Fans and other performers, including Drake and Justin Bieber, celebrated Takeoff’s musical legacy in a memorial service last month in Atlanta.

Migos first broke through with the massive hit Versace in 2013. The group had four Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, though Takeoff was not on its multi-week No. 1 hit Bad and Boujee, featuring Lil Uzi Vert. The rappers put out a trilogy of albums called Culture, Culture II and Culture III, with the first two hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

In the weeks before his death, Takeoff — who released the solo album The Last Rocket in 2018 — and Quavo put out Only Built for Infinity Links. Takeoff hoped the joint album with Quavo would build respect for his lyrical abilities, telling the Drink Champs podcast, “It’s time to give me my flowers.”

As Clark’s arrest was announced on Friday, Takeoff’s voice could again be heard, featured on Feel The Fiyaaaah alongside A$AP Rocky on Metro Boomin’s album Heroes and Villains, which was released that day.

A 10-year-old Wisconsin boy will be charged as an adult after allegedly killing his mother when she wouldn’t allow him to buy an expensive virtual reality headset from Amazon, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

On Nov. 21, Quiana Mann, 44, was shot in the eye at close range at her Milwaukee home, allegedly by her son, who has not been publicly named due to his age, according to the complaint. The complaint alleges that after the shooting, the boy first tried hiding the gun, and then told his older sister their mother was dead, and the sister called 911.

The child allegedly used Mann’s keys to remove the gun from her locked gun safe at about 7 a.m. on Nov. 21. He allegedly told detectives he’d taken the gun out because he was angry Mann had woken him up 30 minutes early, and because he was upset she would not let him buy the headset from Amazon.

One day after the killing, he logged into his deceased mother’s Amazon account to buy the Oculus Virtual Reality Headset anyway, the complaint alleges.

After the shooting, the child initially told police he’d shot his mom accidentally, per the complaint. He was allowed to stay home with his family at that point. However, the next day, relatives called police with concerns about whether the 10-year-old was telling the truth. According to the complaint, he allegedly later told his aunt he had “actually [been] aiming the gun at his mother.”

Family members told detectives the child experienced “rage issues” his whole life, the complaint says. At four years old, the boy allegedly held his puppy by the tail and whirled him around until the dog “whined and howled in pain.” He also allegedly started a fire in the home by filling a balloon with flammable liquid and setting it aflame, per the complaint.

A family member also told investigators the little boy “has five different imaginary people that talk to him.” These imaginary people are described as two sisters, an old lady, and two men, the complaint states.

The boy recently received a “concerning diagnosis” from a therapist, leading Mann to place cameras around the home, the complaint says, according to documents from a therapist. Unfortunately, someone unplugged the cameras before the shooting.

“He’s always said that he hears voices,” the child’s grandmother, Lueritha Mann, told The Daily Beast. “We tried helping her with him,” Lueritha also told the Beast. “All of us, everybody that knows her, even her church people. We all tried helping her with him because we knew he had a mental illness.”

The 10-year-old is being charged with first-degree reckless homicide and is being held on $50,000 bail. If convicted of the charges, he could face up to 60 years in prison.

Milwaukee police tell PEOPLE in a statement that the department is still “investigating the fatal shooting … that occurred on Monday, November 21, 2022, at approximately 6:50 a.m.”

“MPD would like to remind the public to keep firearms secured with a gun lock and out of the reach of children,” the police spokesperson says.

A federal grand jury indicted two women this week in separate, but related, indictments after a Florida man was shot and killed after attempted robbery near Cheaha State Park.

The four-count indictments filed in U.S. District Court charged 20-year-old Yasmine Marie Adel Hider of Edmond, Oklahoma, and 36-year-old Krystal Diane Pinkins of Memphis, Tennessee, with murder, kidnapping, robbery, and unlawful use of a firearm during a crime of violence arising out of events that occurred in the Talladega National Forest on Aug. 14, 2022.

According to authorities, the maximum penalty for murder, kidnapping, and unlawful use of a firearm during a crime of violence is life in prison.

The maximum penalty for robbery is 15 years in prison

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan Cross and John B. Felton are prosecuting the case.

Two women in Alabama have been indicted for allegedly shooting and killing a college student from Florida while robbing him and his girlfriend at gunpoint this summer in the Talladega National Forest.

A federal grand jury in Birmingham returned a true bill indicting Yasmine Marie Adel Hider, 20, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Krystal Pinkins, 36, of Memphis, Tennessee, on one count each of murder, kidnapping, robbery, and unlawful use of a firearm during a crime of violence, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

The alleged incident took place on August 14, 2022 and left 22-year-old Adam Simjee dead after he sustained a single gunshot wound. According to federal charging documents, Hider is charged with actually firing the shot that killed Simjee, while Krystal Pinkins is charged with malice aforethought aiding and abetting.

The charging documents state that the two defendants did “unlawfully seize, confine, inveigle, kidnap, abduct, and carry away two persons” — identified by authorities as Simjee and and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Mikayla Paulus — for their own “benefit and purpose.”

While the details of what allegedly transpired in the national park are largely left out of the court documents, Paulus spoke with AL.com about the traumatic experience.

Paulus reportedly said that she and Simjee were hiking in Cheaha State Park in Clay County in the morning when Hider and Pinkins flagged them down under the guise of having car trouble.

“I called my dad (to ask for car repair advice), watched some YouTube videos and tried to fix car. When we realized it couldn’t be fixed, I asked if she needed anything else,” Paulus reportedly said. “She (Hider) pulled a gun, said put your hands up, walk into the woods and drop your phone and keys.”

Referring to Simjee as a “proud supporter of the Second Amendment,” Paulus reportedly said that he had a handgun in his waistband “the whole time,” and even remarked that the two women were suspicious, saying, “this is how people get robbed.”

Paulus reportedly recalled that Hider then demanded the couple hand over their cell phones, unlocking codes, and banking information.

“When she (Hider) dropped her guard for a second, and lowered her gun for a second, he pulled out his gun and told her to get on the ground,” Paulus reportedly told the news outlet. “She started messing with her gun and it was jamming but they shot at each other.”

Hider reportedly sustained three gunshot wounds — one of which shattered her femur — but survived. Simjee sustained a single gunshot wound that ultimately proved fatal.

As the shots rang out, Krystal Pinkins reportedly ran into the woods. Paulus reportedly grabbed one of the phones and called the police. She said she performed chest compressions on Simjee as she waited for officers to arrive, but he succumbed to his wound a short while later.

Officers reportedly located Krystal Pinkins a short distance away at a “base camp” of tents. When they made contact, her 5-year-old son reportedly ran out of a wooded area wielding a loaded shotgun. However, the child put the weapon down after reaching his mother and she was reportedly taken into custody without further incident.

The maximum penalty for murder, kidnapping, and unlawful use of a firearm during a crime of violence is life in prison while the maximum penalty for robbery is 15 years in prison, per the DOJ.

The duo also faces state charges in Clay County where a judge reportedly placed a temporary gag order on everyone involved in the case.

According to police reports Matthew Sisley would get into an argument with his mother where he complained that She Never Pushed To Become A Man which ended with him stabbing her repeatedly causing her death. A man admitted to killing his mother and severely injuring his sister at a home in Kissimmee, according to deputies.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday afternoon deputies responded to a reported stabbing at a home. Inside deputies found a gruesome scene, a woman stabbed to death and another with severe cuts to her hands.

Investigators said the person responsible was identified as Matthew Stewart Sisley, 21, he was only a short distance away from the crime scene. Sisley was taken into custody and later confessed to intentionally stabbing his mother and accidentally stabbing his sister.

While detectives were conducting the interview, they asked if he believed his mother deserved to die. Shockingly, Sisley said yes.

The detective pushed for more information, asking Sisley why he killed her. His response, “Because she never pushed me to be a man.”

The detective even asked if he regretted doing it. Sisley said, “No. I would do it again.”

The sheriff’s office said Sisley was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Additional charges are forthcoming.
