An 18-year-old Baltimore man was charged with murder in the death of his 8-year-old brother.

According to police charging documents obtained by 11 News, Dylan King was shot in his back, head and shoulders inside a house in the 2100 block of Presbury Street on Dec. 30, 2022.

Police said they found Dylan’s older brother, Devin Wilson, in another room in the house wearing clothes that were stained with a large amount of suspected blood. Police said Wilson was holding a shotgun to his forehead and that officers were able to talk Wilson into putting the gun down.

Police said Dylan was taken to a hospital, where he died. The medical examiner’s office ruled Dylan’s death a homicide by a single shotgun wound.

After multiple interviews, police said they learned that Wilson was on his own, watching his four younger siblings, ranging in age from 2 to 8. Police said Wilson called his mother to tell her to come home and that Dylan had been shot.

When the stepfather arrived home, he said Wilson told him Dylan accidentally shot himself, according to the charging document. But police said they were able to disprove that claim by the shot pattern in the room.

Police said Wilson bought the shotgun from an unknown person and that its purchase was not considered illegal because Wilson is 18 and has no known criminal background, and the firearm — a Silver Eagle pump action shotgun — is not considered to be a regulated firearm.

The charging document also reveals Wilson was able to buy a shotgun from someone after selling a puppy.

Wilson was arrested Tuesday on an arrest warrant that was issued on Jan. 10, charging him with first- and second-degree murder. He’s due in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 15.
