The Slenderman Stabbing case shook a nation as two twelve year old girls Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser would lead their friend out into a field and proceeded to stab her nearly twenty times. Who Is Slenderman
The character Slenderman began as a creepypasta meme where a user from the form Something Awful created him as part of a Photoshop competition. The so called Slenderman character is a very tall and thin with no features and normally wearing a suit.
Soon users were creating stories about the Slenderman where he terrorises families and especially children. The forum users would Photoshop the character in a variety of circumstances: from stalking young children to being present at major crime scenes.
Needless to say the legend of Slenderman quickly grew and went viral.
The Slenderman Stabbing
Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser were both obsessed with the Slenderman character and it grew to the point where they truly believed that he was real. The two twelve year old girls thought if they killed someone Slenderman would welcome them into their home. The person they chose to sacrifice was another twelve year old girl.
The night before the stabbing the three twelve year old girl had a sleepover. The plan initially was to murder the girl that day by covering her mouth with duct tape then proceed to stab her however Anissa decided to let her live another day. The second plan was to bring the victim inside of a bathroom at the local park and murder her there as her blood would go down the drains
The actual attack took place in a forested area during a game of hide and seek. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier would attack the victim and would stab her nearly twenty times. The two girls told the victim that they would get help but proceeded to leave her to die. However the 12 year old victim would find the strength and courage to crawl out of the forest and was found by a passing cyclist, she would survive the brutal attack.

The trouble the court in Wisconsin had to deal with were multiple.

- What are the mental state of the two girls
- What is the appropriate sentence for the two
In the end the two twelve year old girls were moved to adult court as even though the victim survived the attack it was a brutal crime that needed a severe punishment. Both Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser had mental health issues at play and both received psychiatric care while in custody while awaiting trial. The two girls would both be found not guilty by reason of mental defect.
Anissa Weier Sentencing
Anissa Weier would plead guilty to being a party to an attempted second degree murder and would be sentenced to twenty five years to life where she must spend at least three years in locked confinement and involuntary treatment. Weier will remain under state supervision until she is thirty seven years old
Morgan Geyser Sentencing
Morgan Geyser would also be found not guilty by reason of mental defect. Geyser who initially was sentenced to forty years to life would appeal the sentence and would be sentenced to a flat forty years that will be served in a mental health facility, Morgan will be supervised by the state until she is fifty three years old.
Both Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser can petition to be released from their mental health facilities which they are not locked up in and it will be up to the doctors whether or not they pose a danger to themselves or others.
