Police arrested a Palm Bay teen accused of fatally shooting her mother and her mother’s boyfriend on Saturday before she placed a phony 911 call for help, according to records obtained by News 6.

Julia Grace Egler, 16, faces two counts of first-degree murder. News 6 is naming Egler due to the circumstances of the case.

Detectives said Egler shot and killed her mother, Kelley McCollom, 38, before shooting the mother’s boyfriend, Matthew Szejnrok, 22, stabbing him repeatedly and shooting him once more before he died at the scene along Benchor Road. Egler’s motive centered on longstanding conflicts with her mother, including Egler’s disapproval that her mom was dating a 22-year-old man and alleged disagreements related to the teen’s gender transition, police said.

The report states Egler used a chef’s knife and a .38-caliber revolver that she stole from her mother’s bedroom.

Police said that the teen called 911 just after midnight Sunday while acting hysterical and claiming that a man broke into her home; officers quickly responded and arrived to find McCollom and Szejnrok’s bodies, the report states. Meeting with police outside the home — as detectives inside would soon discover bloody footprints matching the girl’s shoes, among other evidence contrary to Egler’s initial statements — the teen reportedly told investigators that she hid in her room with her dog while an unidentified burglar ransacked the residence.

After having been read her Miranda rights, Egler confessed to killing McCollom and Szejnrok, according to the arrest report.

Investigators said Egler eventually admitted to breaking into McCollom’s bedroom while she was gone, soon greeting the victims in the home’s kitchen with a gun in her hand and a knife in her pocket. Moments after Egler told the two “Welcome home,” she shot McCollom and Szejnrok several times and began stabbing Szejnrok once she ran out of ammunition, the report states.

The girl told police that Szejnrok then “essentially asked (Egler) to take him out of his misery,” prompting the teen to return to her mother’s bedroom, load one more round into the handgun and shoot him in the head, the report states.

First reported by News 6 partner Florida Today, Egler will remain in juvenile custody until a delinquency hearing later this month as the 18th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office otherwise decides whether to charge her as an adult.

Rory Atwood is a an accused killer from Florida who has been charged with murder after police find human remains on his property

According to police reports officers were investigating Rory Atwood property in Hudson Florida when they came upon human remains

Officials believe the human remains belong to a family who had been reported missing: 26-year-old Rain Mancini, 25-year-old Phillip Zilliot II, 6-year-old Karma Zilliot and 5-year-old Phillip Zilliot III went missing earlier this month. Officials have not confirmed the human remains are that of the Mancini Zilliot family as they have to await proper testing

Police have said that the last time the Mancini Zilliot family was seen was when they were headed to Rory Atwood home

Police believe that an argument broke out between the adults that led to the murders

Rory Atwood has been charged with murder

Rory Atwood News

A family of four that went missing last week, including two kids ages 5 and 6, is feared dead after law enforcement officials searched a property in Hudson, Florida, and found human remains, authorities said.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said the owner of the property, 25-year-old Rory Atwood, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a press conference on Saturday that the human remains found on Atwood’s property have not yet been identified, though investigators believe they could be those of the missing family. For now, the sheriff’s office is referring to the remains as belonging to John Doe.

Investigators said 26-year-old Rain Mancini, 25-year-old Phillip Zilliot II, 6-year-old Karma Zilliot and 5-year-old Phillip Zilliot III were last seen at about 12:30 a.m. on June 12 near Nottingham Trail in Hudson.

Authorities said that at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mancini got picked up at her mother’s house by a friend who drove her to Atwood’s home on Nottingham Trail.

Nocco said that was the last time Mancini’s mother saw her daughter.

Mancini, her friend, Zilliot II, and Atwood were at the house with Mancini and Zilliot’s two children and Atwood’s daughter, officials said. During that time, the sheriff said, the adults were drinking.

Zilliot II and his mother spoke over the phone at around midnight that night.

“Per Rain’s friend, Rain, Phillip and Rory were all drinking alcohol, and they started arguing,” Nocco said. Investigators are still working to piece together what happened that night, but at about 2 a.m., Atwood allegedly frantically called a friend to say he had shot someone.

It took at least 12 hours for someone to contact the sheriff’s office, Nocco said, and by then, the information coming in was third- or fourth-hand.

On Thursday evening, deputies searched Atwood’s property with his permission. The property is about 10 acres of rural land, and authorities were unable to find anything out of the ordinary.

On Wednesday evening, investigators spoke with Mancini’s mother, who said she did not know where her daughter was and had not spoken with her since Wednesday.

Deputies returned to Atwood’s property on Friday night to search for the now-missing family, and human remains were discovered.

“This along with several admissions is what led to Rory Atwood being charged with first-degree homicide,” Nocco said.

Until the remains are identified, the missing-persons case remains active.

The sheriff’s office told Fox News Digital on Sunday that the investigation is ongoing and there was no new information to provide in terms of the identity of the remains.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these individuals is asked to call the Pasco Sheriff’s nonemergency line at 727-847-8102, option 7, or report tips online at pascosheriff.com/tips.

Alexander Hernandez Case

A teenage boy is in custody after he stabbed another teen to death and wounded an adult during an ambush at a sleepover, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced.

The attack occurred at a home in Wildwood just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. According to officials, deputies arrived at the home and saw that a 15-year-old boy and one adult had been stabbed.

Investigators said the 15-year-old was hosting a sleepover when the suspect, later identified as Alexander Warren Hernandez, 16, arrived unannounced and “banged” on the door.

When the victim, identified as Connor Michael Gill, went to unlock the door, deputies said Hernandez forced his way inside the home and stabbed Gill. He then threatened a third victim before stabbing an adult who came to check on the commotion.

Hernandez then took off on foot and was arrested shortly after with assistance from the sheriff’s office helicopter. Officials said he still had the murder weapons in his possession.

Both stabbing victims were airlifted to an area hospital for further medical attention. Gill was later pronounced dead, and the adult victim was still being treated for his injuries.

Officials said Hernandez was taken to the Sumter County Jail and charged with premeditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and armed burglary.

Authorities said both Gill and Hernandez had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were being homeschooled.

During a press conference on Sunday, Sumter County Undersheriff Pat Breeden said this was a premeditated and targeted attack.

“Alexander told detectives he had ordered the two weapons last Thursday online. The weapons arrived on Saturday. He unpacked the weapons, played with them a little bit, and then he walked nearly six miles to the victim’s residence,” Breeden said.

Authorities said additional charges may be filed against Hernandez.

Breeden added that the motive for the attack is still being determined.
