Persia Nelson News

The mum of kidnapped baby Halo Branton has been charged with manslaughter.

Persia Nelson, 24, faces one count of second-degree manslaughter, after she allegedly “dropped the victim (her child) down an approximate ten foot deep pipe access area,” according to court filings.

According to the records, the area where the baby was dropped was filled with mud and water which caused the poor child’s death.

An Amber Alert for the missing 11-month-old was abruptly cancelled with news later emerging that Halo had been found and rushed to hospital. Sadly Lieutenant Ryan Macherone of the local police later confirmed she had passed away.

The baby girl went missing from Schenectady in New York State, US, March 9 evening with police saying she had been abducted. Officers were alerted at around 11pm when 911 was called.

After being asked by a reporter what it feels like to announce a baby dying, the lieutenant said: “It’s probably the worst thing that will ever happen (in his career). Most likely.”

The baby’s mum was arraigned in Schenectady City Court on Monday morning and remanded on $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.

When he announced the girl’s death, Macherone appeared about to cry. He said: “I’m standing here before you to announce the death of an 11-month-old child. There’s nothing good about that.”

Speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Ryan Macherone confirmed she had passed away at a conference today regarding the incident. At times looking at the edge of tears, Macherone said: “I’m saddened to report today that she passed away this afternoon.”

The charge against Nelson is based on the investigation and “video footage,” according to the allegations.

Before going missing, Halo was seen on 12th Street at Campbell Ave. in Schenectady at around 9.15pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was wearing white sweatpants with brown & tan flowers, a long-sleeve, light pink shirt with a butterfly design, and had a Minnie Mouse blanket.

A previous update from the police: “The Schenectady Police Department has activated the New York State AMBER Alert and is investigating a child abduction that occurred near Campbell Avenue and 12th Street, in Schenectady at about 9:15 PM on 3/9/2024.”

A month ago Sheldon Johnson appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience and now he has been charged with the murder of Collin Small in New York City

According to police reports the body of Collin Small was found in a Bronx apartment, he had been shot in the head and dismembered with parts of his body still in the apartment

NYPD would use video surveillance and would see Sheldon Johnson entering and exiting the apartment at the time of the murder

Sheldon Johnson who had previously served twenty five years in prison for attempted murder would appear on the Joe Rogan Experience to talk about his work in an anti violence program. Now he is facing charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

Sheldon Johnson News

A man who became an outspoken advocate for rehabilitation and a youth counselor at the Queens public defenders’ office after his release from prison last year was charged with killing a 44-year-old man inside a Bronx apartment building this week, according to internal police reports and two high-ranking law enforcement officials familiar with the case.

The suspect, Sheldon Johnson, 48, was charged on Thursday with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm. Mr. Johnson, who served about 25 years behind bars for attempted murder and other charges, appeared last month on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast, where he discussed his incarceration and his work with at-risk youth.

The Queens Defenders declined to comment on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the police received a 911 call around 1 a.m. regarding gunshots inside an apartment building in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, according to the police reports and the law enforcement official.

At least one neighbor told the police they heard two shots from inside a sixth-floor apartment, according to an internal police report. Moments later, the neighbor heard a person shout, “Please don’t, I have a family!”

Then, the neighbor told the police, two more gunshots rang out.

Shortly after hearing the shots, the neighbor saw a man carrying cleaning supplies walk in and out of the apartment. The neighbor did not recognize the man, and told the building superintendent what they had heard and seen. The superintendent called 911 for a wellness check.

When officers arrived at the apartment on Summit Avenue, near the corner of West 162nd Street, they found a man’s torso and a foot inside a plastic storage bin, according to the reports and the official.

Mr. Johnson was seen on surveillance video entering and exiting the building, according to the official and police reports. He was taken into police custody on Tuesday for questioning before his arrest.

Later on Wednesday, the police obtained a warrant to search Mr. Johnson’s apartment in Harlem, according to the law enforcement official. There they discovered the victim’s legs, arms and head in a freezer. The victim had been shot at least once in the head.

Mr. Johnson has spent about half of his life behind bars. In 1997, under the alias Thomas Smalls, he was convicted of criminal possession of stolen property in Manhattan, according to state prison records.

Two years later, Mr. Johnson was convicted of attempted murder, robbery and other charges in Manhattan, according to the records. He served the maximum sentence of about 25 years, and was released last May.

His attempted murder case and long incarceration had prompted public efforts to convince the state to grant him clemency. A fund-raising page on the website newyorkersforclemency.com described him as a “community leader and mentor” as well as a “creative writer and thespian.”

In his own writings and in other media reports, Mr. Johnson described his incarceration as part of a family legacy of crime and punishment. Mr. Johnson’s father also served time in prison, and his son, also named Sheldon Johnson, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in family court in connection with a fatal attack on a Columbia graduate student in 2008, when the younger Mr. Johnson was 12.

On Mr. Rogan’s podcast, Sheldon Johnson described himself as a big shot member of the Bloods who was at “the top of the food chain.” He continued in his leadership role even while behind bars.

In 2005, Mr. Johnson said, he began to rethink the drug dealing, the guns and the gang life. He wanted to leave it all behind.

“My son was growing up hearing stories about my so-called notoriety. I just didn’t want to be that dad,” Mr. Johnson said.

“I said to myself, ‘I’ve been doing bad for so long, I’m going to try to do something good,’” he added. “If all else fails, I could always go back to doing something bad. But let me try. Let me give it a shot.”

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa Charged In Times Square Shooting

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa new york

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa is a fifteen year old migrant who is facing charges of attempted murder for shooting at a police officer and a woman in New York City Time Square

According to police reports Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa would open fire and would shoot a woman before he would fire randomly at a police officer in Times Square. Thankfully the woman is expected to survive her injuries

The search for Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa did not last long and the fifteen year old was taken into police custody where he now faces two counts of attempted murder and will be tried as an adult

Apparently the shooting took place after Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa and two other teens were caught shoplifting inside of a Times Square store and attempted to flee. The teen attempted to shoot the store security guard but missed and struck the woman instead.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa is being held without bail

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa News

A 15-year-old armed migrant who was wanted for shooting a tourist and firing at police in Times Square on Thursday has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and a slew of other crimes.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, 15, broke down in tears as he was apprehended and taken into police custody on Friday following a short manhunt for the mayhem that erupted in New York City’s busy tourist hotspot.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, who police had said was “armed and dangerous” as they pursued him, has also been charged with assault, attempted assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa fired a .45 caliber handgun at a security guard inside the JD Sports clothing store on West 42nd Street and Broadway at around 7:05 p.m. after the guard had caught Rivas-Figureoa and two other teens shoplifting sneakers and clothes.

The shot missed the security guard but struck a female Brazilian tourist in the leg as Rivas-Figueroa and one of the other shoplifters bolted from the scene.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa fired at least twice at a responding police officer, while a second cop apprehended the other fleeing shoplifter, the NYPD said.

The NYPD quickly launched a search for Rivas-Figueroa for the attempted murder of a police officer.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa was picked up by the U.S. Marshals Service in Yonkers, New York, just north of the Bronx, without incident on Friday at around 3:30 p.m., according to NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, who said the perp has a family connection to the suburb. He was wearing black jeans and a black t-shirt, as well as a gold chain as he was hauled off by authorities, footage shows. Rivas-Figueroa was wearing all white when police say he opened fire in Times Square.

“The shooting incident last night in Times Square was way beyond reckless,” Caban said at a Friday evening news conference to announce the arrest. “In the middle of the busiest, mostly highly-trafficked part of the city, a criminal with a firearm decides to pull the trigger.”

“If you think you attack a member of this department, if you think you could threaten the lives of the very people who keep us safe. If you think you could put others at deadly risk and get away with it, then think again,” Caban said. “We will never stop pursuing you. We will find you, and we will arrest you.”

At an earlier news conference on Friday, authorities said the teen was living in a temporary shelter after migrating from Venezuela. He entered the U.S. in September and was staying at the Stratford Arms Hotel on West 70th Street, which houses migrants, said NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell.

It is unclear if Rivas-Figueroa is in the country, legally or illegally.

It is not known whether his case will go through family court or criminal court due to his age. A child who is 13, 14 or 15 years old and is charged with committing a serious or violent felony is considered a juvenile offender under New York law.

In addition to Thursday’s shooting, Rivas-Figureoa is suspected in an armed robbery in the Bronx and a shots-fired incident in Midtown Manhattan, Chell said.

The woman shot Thursday was grazed by a bullet, a Brazilian official with knowledge of the situation told Fox News Digital. She was treated at a local hospital and released, police said.

She is expected to return to Brazil on Saturday, the official said.

“The Police Department was very, very resourceful and kind to the lady and really offered a lot of support,” the official said. “The mayor’s office has not reached out, but I don’t think there’s any need because she was not seriously injured as the Police Department was very supportive. She’s completely well and this is not a big issue.”

The officer was not harmed.

During his briefing, Chell praised the actions of the police officer who was fired upon for not returning fire in the densely populated area.

“Our cop showed great restraint not to fire their weapon into a crowd of New Yorkers,” he said. “His training dictates you have to be prudent when you’re going to fire your weapon.”

“We’re the most restrained police department in the world, and we proved it last night,” Chell added.

The shooting came nearly two weeks after a group of migrants attacked a pair of NYPD officers, also in Times Square. Several suspects in that case have been indicted, but only one is being held in custody.

Chell noted that some Venezuelans have posed a public safety risk as the city continues to struggle with an influx of migrants.

“We saw the moped robberies and snatches. We see pockets being picked in Times Square and on the subway. We see some groups going into stores… and stealing property,” he said.

“The state of this police department is we don’t care who you are, what your status is,” Chell said, referring to the suspected shoplifting teens being migrants. We’re not going to go and broad brush a whole migrant community as being bad people… our concern, the community’s concern is to take this armed and dangerous juvenile off the streets,” Chell said.
