Robert Jacob More News

Former Sebastopol Mayor Robert Jacob pleaded no contest to six counts of child sex crimes and will be sentenced to seven years in prison and spend the rest of his life as a registered sex offender.

Jacob, 45, was scheduled for a jury trial Friday, but during a readiness conference last week he reached a plea deal with the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, said Andrew Lukas, the chief deputy district attorney.

In a March court hearing, the victim, who is a minor, testified that he met Jacob through the Grindr dating app. He said Jacob knew he was underage, but touched him sexually multiple times, sent him nude photos and invited unknown men to have sex with him.

Jacob pleaded no contest to procuring a child for lewd or lascivious acts; lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 15; sexual penetration with a foreign object; distribution or showing of harmful matter; contact or communication with a minor with the intent to commit a specified offense; and unlawfully arranging to meet a minor to engage in lewd and lascivious acts.

He also admitted to several aggravating factors: the victim was particularly vulnerable; he induced others to participate in the crime; and he carried out the crime with a manner indicative of planning, sophistication or professionalism.

Five charges were dismissed based on the plea bargain, Lukas said.

Jacob, who founded a medical marijuana dispensary Peace in Medicine, was elected to the City Council in 2012.

In 2013, he was selected as mayor, making him one of the first mayors in the nation with a background in the medical marijuana industry.

In March 2016, Jacob took a leave of absence from office to care for his ailing mother. He also stepped down from his leadership position with Peace in Medicine, which merged with another dispensary in 2017.

The case came to light in 2021, when someone, possibly the victim or his parents, reported the sexual assaults to child protective services, which relayed them to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, said Sebastopol Police Chief Ron Nelson.

Because the assaults, which occurred between December 2019 and March 2021, took place in Jacob’s home in Sebastopol, they were referred to Sebastopol police, who arrested him on April 10, 2021, Nelson said.

The District Attorney’s Office would not comment on the case before the sentencing, Lukas said.

Jacob’s attorney, Chris Andrian, did not return calls seeking comment.

Jacob is scheduled to be sentenced March 23 before Judge Christopher Honigsberg.

Steven Wolf More News

Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution today secured a guilty conviction and unanimous vote recommending the death penalty against a Florida Keys man who brutally murdered 51-year-old Michelle Osborne in 2018.

Steven Wolf performed a gruesome sexual battery using a large object that resulted in blunt force trauma and killed Osborne.

Due to several aggravating factors, including the heinous nature of the crime and a previous violent felony conviction of manslaughter 40 years prior, Wolf now faces the death penalty.

“We secured a unanimous death-penalty recommendation for a depraved killer, who gruesomely murdered a Florida woman,” said Attorney General Ashley Moody.

“This case is so disturbing, and my heart breaks for the victim’s family. I am so thankful to the jury for sitting through this difficult trial, weighing the evidence presented by my Statewide Prosecutors and taking on the heavy responsibility of a case such as this.”

According to the investigation, conducted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, local fishermen found a woman’s body in a remote area.

Investigators soon found car parts around the body that belonged to Wolf’s van. Authorities located the van abandoned in a Kmart parking lot.

The investigation uncovered that Wolf used a large object to penetrate the victim’s genitals, causing blunt force trauma, and strangled the woman before dumping the body.

Attorney General Moody’s Statewide Prosecutors secured a conviction against Steven Wolf for first-degree murder and sexual battery. Wolf faces the death penalty, with a unanimous vote of the jury for recommendation.

Assistant Statewide Prosecutors Cass and Christina Castillo prosecuted the case through an agreement with the State Attorney for the 16th Judicial Circuit. The final decision whether to follow the unanimous recommendation of the jury will be made by the 16th Judicial Circuit Judge Mark H. Jones, who presided over the case.

Drunk School Bus Driver Anthony Stuckey Hits House

Anthony Stuckey

Anthony Stuckey was a school bus driver in New Jersey until he decided to drop a bunch of kids and proceeded to hit a house. According to police reports Anthony Stuckey would drop off kids at Essex County vocational-technical school when he went speeding down a street and proceeded into a house in West Caldwell New Jersey. When officers showed up at the scene they found out Anthony Stuckey had been drinking with a blood alcohol level of at least .04. Now Anthony Stuckey has been charged with:

  • Driving while intoxicated,
  • Fifteen counts of endangering the welfare of a child,
  • DUI with minor passengers,
  • And operating a commercial vehicle without a proper CDL, among other charges.

Needless to say Anthony Stuckey will be looking for a new job and hopefully one that does not require a license.

Anthony Stuckey More News

Police say a school bus driver who crashed into a New Jersey home was driving drunk at the time.

Anthony Stuckey, 37, faces charges of driving while intoxicated and 15 counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The school bus driver had just dropped off students at Essex County Technical School when his bus slammed into a home around 8:30 a.m. Friday in West Caldwell, New Jersey.

Police pulled Stuckey out of the wreckage, and he was treated for minor injuries on scene. No one else was on the bus at the time of the crash.

It appears the bus driver failed to manage a tight turn nearby. Police were investigating to see if there was another cause for the crash.

“It can be managed, but people who are driving at excessive speed limit or not paying attention, it creeps up on them quick,” said Police Chief Dennis Capriglione.

Police also say that Stuckey did not have a proper commercial driver’s license to operate the bus.

Neighbors have seen similar accidents in the area previously, which is why there is a steel barricade to protect homes as drivers come around the bend in the road.

In this case, Stuckey seemed to oversteer. Police say he crossed the dividing line and clipped a black minivan before careening into the house

The homeowner is a man named Siva Thangam. He left around 5:15 a.m. to get to work at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he teaches.

The crash left the home’s foundation compromised, which means Thangam will have to find somewhere else to live until repairs can be made.
