A Satellite High School chorus instructor, who had received accolades from students and teachers alike over the decades, was arrested over the weekend after Brevard County sheriff’s agents said he attempted to meet a child for sex.

Timothy Liscum, 64, of Melbourne, who has been employed by Brevard Public Schools for 30 years, was charged with traveling to meet a minor after luring by computer and use of a computer service to solicit, seduce, lure a child, according to court records.

The sheriff’s office was also looking into whether other youth at the 1,400-student beachside community campus may have been approached by the teacher. Brevard County Public school officials contacted Sunday about the arrest were at the school Monday morning to talk with administrators.

“We do have counselors, support staff who are available to talk with students,” said Russell Bruhn, spokesperson for the school district.

“The mood is somber at the campus. There is a lot of shock and everyone is processing what’s happening. He was the chorus teacher and he’s been with the school for decades and is loved, respected, by students and his teaching colleagues.”

Liscum was held at the Brevard County Jail Complex on a $70,000 bond. He will go before a judge for an initial appearance Monday. He has not yet been assigned a public defender or listed a defense attorney to speak on his behalf, records show.

Brevard County sheriff’s agents began investigating after the Satellite Beach Police Department was contacted by a student’s parents. The student’s age was not immediately available.

The sheriff’s office said Liscum had been communicating with a student from the high school. The student became concerned about the conversations and told another student along with another teacher, a sheriff’s press release stated.

The sheriff’s office took over the investigation and acting as the teen, carried on further conversations electronically with the instructor.

The sheriff’s office said Liscum then solicited the student — an agent posing as the teen — for inappropriate sexual contact. Liscum was arrested as he attempted to meet the student in person.

An investigation is ongoing.

A Riverside County high school teacher was arrested this week on suspicion of sending sexually explicit photos to an underage male student.

Amanda Quinonez, 30, a teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, was arrested Tuesday, according to the county sheriff’s department. She was released from custody Wednesday after posting a $50,000 bail.

The Riverside County district attorney’s office has not yet decided whether it will file charges in the case. Sheriff’s Sgt. Edward Soto said the investigation is ongoing.

According to a letter sent to parents, the school immediately notified law enforcement once it was made aware of a possible “inappropriate relationship.

Principal Dr. Greg Anderson said the Corona-Norco School District has a “zero-tolerance for any behavior that endangers our students.”

Quinonez was hired as a language arts teacher at the school in 2016. In addition, she coached boys and girls water polo and swimming. This year, she was listed only as a girls water polo coach, according to a spokesperson at Eleanor Roosevelt High School.

teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale was arrested on Tuesday, April 12, on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a student.

An investigation was launched by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department after allegations were brought to school administration’s attention of an inappropriate relationship between a student and an employee, the Corona-Norco Unified School District said in a statement.

Sheriff’s officials said Amanda Quinonez, 30, allegedly committed lewd acts with a student and gave him “harmful matter… which included explicit photos of a sexual nature.” She was booked on a felony count of lewd acts with a child, a felony count of distributing harmful material to a minor and a misdemeanor count of molesting a child.

“This news is disheartening and upsetting to us all,” the district’s statement said. “Corona-Norco Unified School District along with Eleanor Roosevelt High School has zero-tolerance for any behavior that endangers our students.”

Quinonez was arrested Tuesday while on school grounds, according to authorities. She posted bail on Wednesday, and is set to appear in court at the Riverside Hall of Justice on June 14.

Amanda Quinonez was placed on administrative leave and Eleanor Roosevelt parents were notified of the situation, the district said.

A teacher at a Richmond charter school was arrested on suspicion of child molestation on Wednesday and is now charged with 29 counts of child molestation, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.

Anessa Paige Gower, 35, is a biology teacher at Making Waves Academy. She was arrested on Wednesday morning in Sacramento as she returned from a vacation in Hawaii, according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors allege that Gower engaged in “numerous” acts of a sexual nature with seven minors between 2021 and 2022, according to a statement released by the district attorney’s office on Friday.

The allegations include sex acts with minors, inappropriate touching, and sharing sexually graphic photos over online platforms.

Gower is in custody with bail set at $1.9 million.

Making Waves Academy Chief Executive Officer Alton B. Nelson, Jr. issued the following statement after news of the arrest became public.

There is nothing more important than the health, safety and well-being of our students. During the course of an investigation into allegations that one of our teachers violated school policy, we learned of additional highly concerning allegations involving that teacher’s conduct. We immediately shared that information with authorities who are reviewing the matter. That teacher is no longer employed by Making Waves Academy and we have reached out to parents, students and faculty to provide support where it might be needed. At this time we can make no further comment.

This is not the first time the charter school has had a teacher arrested on molestation charges.

In 2017, sixth grade science and math teacher Ronald Guinto was convicted of molesting over a dozen victims for several years, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

In 2002, Guinto lured his first victim, a then 12-year-old boy, through an AOL chat room to sneak out of his home. Prosecutors said Guinto proceeded to molest the boy on multiple occasions in Santa Clara and Solano counties.

Guinto was found guilty on 87 of the 90 counts he was charged with, including forcible child molestation, witness dissuasion and kidnapping, according to prosecutors. He was later sentenced to over 900 years in prison

Twelve of his former students at Making Waves Academy received a combined settlement of $10.9 million after suing the the school, an attorney said.

The Making Waves Academy is currently closed for spring break.

Colin McNally is a physical education teacher at Cardozo High School in New York City that has just been charged with assault for throwing a student against the wall. According to police reports the unnamed fourteen year old teen was asking Colin McNally for a basketball and then attempted to grab the ball. Colin McNally would grab the teen and throw him against the wall. A brief struggle began and Colin McNally would throw the student to the floor before pushing up against the wall. A teacher at a high school in Queens is facing charges and accused of slamming a student into the walls and then tossing him to the ground.

Police made the arrest on the school grounds of Cardozo High School after being called to the scene.

Video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the unsettling altercation inside the school involving teacher Colin McNally as he roughed up a 14-year-old student.

It happened Wednesday around 11:15 a.m. and now police and the Department of Education are both now looking into the incident.

Officials say the student had just finished playing basketball in the gym. McNally took the ball from the teen and was heading to the dean’s office.

The student appeared to try and get it back, when out of nowhere, McNally grabbed him by the shirt and slammed him against the wall before tossing him to the ground.

On Thursday many students were talking about the incident. It lasted just 16 seconds but the fallout is huge.

McNally, who teaches PE and is a coach for Varsity Boys tennis, was arrested and charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He has since been released.

A spokesperson for the DOE said:

“These are incredibly disturbing allegations, and Mr. McNally was immediately removed from the classroom away from students, pending the outcome of the investigation.”

The student was not hurt. Eyewitness News reached out to McNally for a statement but he did not respond.

A disgraced Louisiana teacher has pleaded guilty to “horrific crimes” against children and admitted to serving her students cupcakes that contained sperm from her ex-husband, who is awaiting his own trial on child sex crime charges, according to authorities.

Cynthia Perkins, 36, agreed to plead guilty and testify against her ex, 44-year-old former Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT member Dennis Perkins, who is also charged with dozens of child sex crimes, according to prosecutors.

“She not only waived any right to appeal, and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial,” Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said Monday. “Today’s conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice.”

Cynthia Perkins was a junior high English teacher until she resigned after police raided the couple’s home. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately fired Dennis Perkins, who had been a special operations lieutenant.

Investigators said they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the Denham Springs couple in 2019. Police seized photographs of the couple posing nude with a child, as well as other evidence while serving a search warrant in October of that year.

Court documents reported by WBRZ in May revealed that police also found pictures of Perkins’ students eating the semen-laced cupcakes and that the couple allegedly raped a child between the ages of 9 and 10. Investigators allegedly found hidden cameras in their attic and bathroom and said they uncovered more pictures on an iPhone.

The couple had initially been charged with 60 counts of production of child porn, rape and other crimes. Prosecutors also accused Dennis Perkins of obscenity, video voyeurism and possessing child porn.

Livingston Sheriff Jason Ard said at the time that although Perkins had been a longtime officer who he considered a friend, “no one is above the law.”

“This type of alleged behavior will not be tolerated by me or anyone at the LPSO,” he said.

Cynthia Perkins pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, producing child porn and conspiracy mingling of harmful substances Monday, according to Landry’s office. She’s due back in court Friday for sentencing.

A school teacher in Louisiana who reportedly has admitted to lacing cupcakes with her husband’s sperm and feeding them to students now faces a sentence of 41 years in prison.

The Associated Press reports Cynthia Perkins and her now ex-husband Dennis Perkins were both arrested in October 2019 and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, 60 counts of producing porn involving a juvenile under the age of 13, and with a slew of other child sex crime charges.

Cynthia was reportedly a teacher in Livingston Parish while her husband, Dennis, was a Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputy at the time of their arrest.

According to WBRZ News, Dennis was fired by the department after his initial arrest, and Cynthia resigned from her position as a teacher shortly after her arrest as well.

Initially, the former teacher pleaded innocence to her various child sex crime charges, but now has reached a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to three of the charges on Monday.

Per her plea agreement, Cynthia reportedly admits she assisted her husband in sexually assaulting a juvenile, helped her husband film a juvenile bathing, and also admitted to lacing cupcakes with her then-husband’s sperm before feeding them to school children.

Cynthia will also testify against her former husband, as per the plea deal, according to Louisiana Assistant Attorney General Barry Milligan.

Cynthia reportedly filed for divorce from Dennis after they were both arrested, saying she was manipulated by him into committing the child sex crimes. Her attorneys reportedly maintain Dennis was the “mastermind” behind the couple’s criminal activity.

Prosecutors reportedly say the 68 charges Cynthia did not plead guilty to will be dismissed, but she still faces a 41-year prison sentence. A judge has set her sentencing date for Friday, according to WAFB News.

Dennis Perkins, who maintains a “not guilty” plea to his charges, reportedly has his trial set to start on May 9, 2022.
