Todd Lofton Shaw has been charged after his girlfriends 7 year old son died with serious injuries. According to police reports 911 was called about a child being in medical distress and when ambulance attendants arrived they found a severely injured seven year old boy. The child was rushed to the hospital however it was too late to save him. Todd Lofton Shaw was arrested after doctors documented a multitude of injuries to the child. So far Todd Lofton Shaw has only been arrested for injury of a child however do not be surprised to see more charges in the near future.

A 52-year-old man was arrested Friday night after a 7-year-old child with “suspicious and extensive injuries” was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the Denton Police Department.

According to a Saturday morning news release from Denton PD, 52-year-old Todd Lofton Shaw was arrested Friday night in connection to the child’s death. At about 7:29 p.m., police and the Denton Fire Department were sent to the 1600 block of East McKinney Street, following reports of an unconscious person.

A caller reported a child was having a medical emergency inside a residence, the release states. Medics arrived, transported the child to a hospital and notified officers that they had “suspicious and extensive injuries.” The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The release states detectives arrived to investigate and were granted a search warrant to search the residence. Two people living there — the child’s mother and her boyfriend — were interviewed as part of that investigation.

After the investigation was finished, officers arrested Shaw, the mother’s boyfriend, on a charge of injury to a child. Police released no further information Saturday morning but stated the department hasn’t had any prior history with Shaw or the family.

A Denton man was arrested Friday after a 7-year-old boy died from “suspicious and extensive” injuries, police say.

About 7:30 p.m., officers were called to the 1600 block of East McKinney Street, near North Woodrow Lane, for reports of an unconscious child having a medical emergency, the Denton Police Department said.

The child, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officers were told the boy had “suspicious and extensive injuries,” according to police.

Detectives searched the boy’s home, where they interviewed his mother and her boyfriend, 52-year-old Todd Lofton Shaw. Following the interviews, Shaw was arrested on a charge of injury to a child.

Shaw was being held in the Denton jail Saturday, with bail set at $1 million. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.

Denton police said they had no prior history with Shaw or anyone else from the family.

“It is heartbreaking that the death of this child occurred on the first day of National Child Abuse Prevention Month,” police said in a news release.
