Kayla Alery is an alleged killer from Las Vegas Nevada who was just released from prison a few months ago and has now apparently murdered a stranger
According to police reports Kayla Alery was just released from prison after spending time for two arson charges and was not allowed to have any sort of weapons
Police reports would say that Kayla Alery was going through unlocked vehicles in an apartment block and when she would see a carpet cleaning van she would approach the vehicle and opened fire killing a man inside
Police would be called to the scene and the initial report was that a man with tattoos on his face was responsible however they quickly figured out the description was wrong and Kayla Alery was taken into custody
The name of the victim has not been released
Kayla Alery now faces a host of charges including murder
Kayla Alery News
A woman accused of randomly shooting and killing a man Tuesday was released from prison months ago and ordered not to have any weapons, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
Las Vegas Metro police arrested Kayla Alery, 27, on charges including open murder and assault with a deadly weapon shortly after the shooting at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of South Fort Apache Road near Twain Avenue, the 8 News Now Investigators first reported Wednesday.
Witnesses at the scene provided officers with an initial suspect description of a man with facial and neck tattoos wearing dark clothing and carrying bags, Lt. Jason Johannson told reporters Tuesday. Officers were then able to locate Alery nearby. However, when police found her, she was identified as a woman in her 20s.
“This appears to be a random shooting of a completely innocent hardworking human being who was here at work and was shot and killed while doing their job,” Johansson said Tuesday.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified the shooting victim Wednesday as Raul Cardoza, 41.
Alery most recently served prison time on two arson charges, records said. A judge had sentenced her to 14-36 years in prison. In August, the parole board granted her a release effective Dec. 5, 2023, records said.
In that case, Alery set fire or attempted to set fire to a car, documents said. It was unclear the exact nature of the two incidents due to documents available Wednesday.
In 2018, Alery pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted burglary, records said. In that case, a judge placed Alery on probation for five years.
Alery faced an additional charge Wednesday of battery by a prisoner, records said. Metro police cited her in January for driving with a revoked license, records said.
Alery was allegedly inside the complex checking car doors to see if they were unlocked, Johannson said Tuesday, then speaking about the suspect. Several people notified the apartment leasing manager who then asked maintenance workers to go and search for the reported suspect and get them off the property.
While workers searched for that person, two men inside a carpet cleaning company van were parked at the complex, Johannson said. Police then stated that the female suspect quickly approached the van and pulled out her gun and shot the van’s driver.
“Right now, we have no indication at all that our victim had any interaction with the suspect prior to that occurring. Our suspect then fled out of the gate,” Johansson told 8 News Now on Tuesday. “They were here just doing their job doing an estimate to clean someone’s carpet sitting in their van.”
Alery was due to make her initial court appearance on Thursday.

When police arrived on scene, they found Mashenka’s younger brother – approximately four or five years old – with a gunshot wound to the head. Mashenka was able to direct officers to the garage, where her father was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and back.

Chance Comanche News
An NBA G League player and his girlfriend are accused of killing a woman who had been reported missing earlier this month, according to Las Vegas Metro Police.
Chance Comanche, 27, and Sakari Harnden, 19, were both taken into custody in recent days in connection with the disappearance of Marayna Rodgers, 23.
Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, had been visiting Las Vegas with friends in early December, her family told KLAS. She hadn’t been seen since Dec. 6.
Human remains found in a desert area of Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas, have been identified as Rodgers.
Chance Comanche and Harnden are now expected to face an open murder charge, Las Vegas Metro Police said Sunday after detectives determined they “were responsible for the murder of Rodgers.”
Police learned that Rodgers was out with friends on Dec. 5 and had a pre-arranged meeting with Harnden, who would bring her boyfriend, according to a news release. Detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest Chance Comanche and Harnden, police said.
Chance Comanche was taken into custody on Friday by a California FBI Criminal Apprehension Team in connection with the disappearance, Nexstar’s KLAS has learned. He was taken to the Sacramento County Jail after a warrant for first-degree kidnapping was issued in Las Vegas Justice Court early Friday morning. He is expected to be extradited to Nevada.
Chance Comanche was a member of the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings. The team released Comanche on Friday. A team spokesperson declined to comment further on the matter. Comanche went undrafted after playing basketball at the University of Arizona and has spent the last two seasons with Stockton
The Stockton Kings played the G League Ignite team at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada on Dec. 5, the day before Rodgers reportedly disappeared. It is unclear how long Comanche may have been in the Las Vegas area. The Stockton Kings then played the Rip City Remix in Portland, Oregon on Dec. 7.
Harnden, 19, was taken into custody in Las Vegas on a first-degree kidnapping charge on Dec. 13, as KLAS first reported. As of Sunday morning, she remained in a downtown Las Vegas jail with $500,000 bail.
According to a criminal complaint, Harnden said she held or detained Rodgers against her will and without her consent for the purpose of killing her and/or inflicting bodily harm.
Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Diana Sullivan set Harnden’s bail at $500,000 on Dec. 14, according to court records. Conditions included high-level electronic monitoring. It also noted for the “State to notify the Court immediately if the alleged victim is located alive.”
Harnden was initially believed to be the last person to see Rodgers before her disappearance.
Judge Sullivan had also issued the arrest warrant for Comanche.
Comanche is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon in Sacramento County court, jail records showed.
Harnden declined an interview with KLAS. She is represented by a public defender, records showed. A preliminary hearing for the kidnapping charge is scheduled for December 28.
No additional details have been released as of Sunday, but police said Comanche and Harnden were arrested after “executing murder plan.”
Loved ones told KLAS that Rodgers had a good job and would never leave her family back home in Washington state, or abandon her dogs she brought with her to Las Vegas. They believed that Rodgers disappearance was suspicious.
The Dock Ellis Foundation, a Las Vegas group that advocates for families of missing and murdered people of color, sent the following statement to KLAS:
“The Dock Ellis Foundation will continue to follow up on the case of Marayna Rodgers. This is a very traumatic situation for our community, her family and friends. To her family you have the Dock Ellis Foundation’s deepest sympathies during this difficult time.
Again we are asking for the community to continue praying for all who are missing or murdered, because of your dedication Maryana Rodgers will get justice.”

Hend Bustami Case
A 29-year-old woman from Nevada who piqued national interest last year when she claimed she was arrested for being “so good-looking,” may spend the rest of her life locked up after admitting to killing her own mother, stabbing the 61-year-old woman multiple times inside of the home they both shared. Hend Bustami appeared in Clark County District Court on Tuesday and formally pleaded guilty but mentally ill to one count of second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon in the slaying of Afaf Hussanen, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show.
As previously reported by Law&Crime, Bustami attacked her mother inside their Las Vegas home, then called 911 and calmly confessed to her murder before getting in her car and fleeing out of state.
Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 2:34 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2022, responded to a 911 call about an injured person inside a residence on June Flower Drive. The caller — later identified as Bustami — requested medical assistance as she matter-of-factly stated that she’d just “murdered” her own mother.
“Do you need police, fire, or medical?” the 911 dispatcher said in the brief audio clip.
“Uh, medical,” Bustami responded, adding, “I think I killed my mommy.”
The dispatcher then asked the caller for her address, which the caller provided, before questioning her about her mother.
“Why do you think you killed your mom?” the dispatcher asked.
“Because I did. I murdered her,” Bustami replied.
“How did you do that?” asked the dispatcher.
“I broke the table on her head and I broke it,” Bustami appeared to say, though some parts of the audio are difficult to decipher.
When asked where she was calling from, Bustami tells the dispatcher that she is still at her mother’s home, and again offers to provide the dispatcher with the address before they return to the topic of killing her mother.
“Okay, what did you do to her?” the dispatcher asked.
“I killed her,” Bustami said, maintaining a monotone voice throughout the back-and-forth.
“How did you kill her, you said something about a table?” the dispatcher asked.
“I broke the table on her head. I broke the table on her head and I cut her neck off,” Bustami responds.
Upon arriving at the address, first responders found an unresponsive adult female — later identified as Hussanen — who appeared to have sustained “multiple lacerations,” police said. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators said evidence indicated the victim “was involved in a verbal dispute with her daughter” just before she sustained her fatal injuries. Authorities said Bustami killed her mother and fled the scene, leaving the state.
Not long after the victim’s body was discovered, officers with the Barstow Police Department and the California Highway Patrol located and detained Bustami in California. When authorities enacted a traffic stop, they said that Bustami was “covered in blood” and again admitted to killing her mother.
While speaking with investigators, Bustami said that she and her mother were fighting and she stabbed the older woman with “shards of glass” from a broken table.
The arrest for her mother’s murder was not Bustami’s first run-in with the law. She was previously arrested last summer at Harry Reid International Airport, which is when police say Bustami claimed her detainment was due to her being “so good looking.”
Authorities on Aug. 31, 2022, were called to the airport in regards to an adult female who left a Chili’s restaurant without paying her bill.
“[O]fficers working D gates were notified by TSA that [a] female matching that description was observed sleeping near the security checkpoint, hindering their operations,” a probable cause affidavit stated.
Bustami was later located near the baggage claim area and became “belligerent with officers, saying she was being harassed because cops [had] never seen anyone as pretty as her,” according to the affidavit. While being placed under arrest, Bustami allegedly said that “she was going to spit on all [the officers] and that officers were perverts and were trying to rape her because they [had] never seen anyone as good-looking,” police wrote.
Bustami is currently scheduled to appear in court for her sentencing hearing on Dec. 19 before Clark County District Court Judge Jacqueline M. Bluth. She is facing between 10 years to life in prison for second-degree murder.
