The two who started in a voluntary relationship quickly turned when James Parrillo Jr assaulted the woman in California and she was unable to leave. A woman who authorities say was kidnapped after meeting a man in New Mexico last year and eventually brought to New Jersey reportedly managed to escape her alleged captor by making a mad dash for a nearby gas station.

James W. Parrillo Jr., 57, was arrested on Feb. 7, after the woman, whose name has not been released by authorities, allegedly escaped from the Bass River Township residence they shared and fled to a nearby gas station, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said in a statement on Friday.

James Parrillo is charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree strangulation and aggravated assault, and third-degree criminal restraint. The woman met Parillo, whom she knew as “Brett Parker,” at a gas station on Interstate 10 in New Mexico sometime in February 2022,” according to court documents.

At his request, she agreed to give him a ride to Arizona. The woman said she was in a voluntary relationship with the defendant for about a month when he physically assaulted her while the two were in California, at which point she felt unable to leave the relationship, prosecutors said.

During their time together, James Parrillo allegedly took away the woman’s phone, confiscated and utilized her debit cards, and isolated her from her family. The pair allegedly arrived in New Jersey sometime in December.

They had been staying in the rented room in Bass for about two weeks when the woman managed to escape. Noticing an interior deadbolt on the door of a nearby gas station during a prior visit, the alleged victim planned to flee to safety there when an opportunity presented itself.

On Feb. 7, James Parrillo began beating and choking the woman during an argument inside the residence, which they shared with several other individuals. The man stopped when he realized the two were not alone in the house, and she ran out with nothing on but shorts and a shirt in 42-degree weather.

Once inside the gas station, the woman bolted the door and told an attendant she had been kidnapped for approximately a year. Footage from the station’s security camera shows Parrillo following the woman to the gas station and attempting to open the door, then leaving when he found it locked

A gas station attendant summoned New Jersey State Police, who apprehended Parrillo a short time later as he walked down County Road 542. Parrillo is also charged with third-degree hindering apprehension, and fourth-degree obstruction and refusing to provide a DNA sample.

Parrillo was detained at the Burlington County Jail pending trial following a hearing before Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garringer in Burlington County on Wednesday.

In arguing for pre-trial detention, Assistant Attorney General Theresa Hilton said information provided by the alleged victim and found on social media and other online sites indicate Parrillo may have engaged in similar predatory conduct with individuals in other states

“This is a deeply disturbing case in which the defendant allegedly held a woman against her will for nearly a year, while traveling with her throughout the country, before ending up here in New Jersey where she was able to escape,” Attorney General Platkin said in a statement. “We are reaching out to law enforcement across jurisdictions to identify other people who may have additional information on the defendant. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure we bring justice to this survivor.”

“The allegations of kidnapping and abuse at the hands of the defendant represent a year-long nightmare endured by the victim that spanned several states across the country ultimately coming to an end here in New Jersey,” Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, said. “The dedication and diligence of the troopers, detectives, and members of the Division of Criminal Justice is to be commended, but the strength and bravery of the female victim who successfully escaped her assailant is nothing short of heroic.”

Tyler Borys said his wife, 26-year-old Alexandria Cress Borys, was loading groceries into her car at the Kroger in Irmo, South Carolina, when she got into an argument with a woman she didn’t know, according to FOX 57 Columbia.

After the argument was over, the stranger, later identified by Irmo police as 23-year-old Christina Harrison, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Borys in the back. The couple’s children, a 2-year-old and an infant, were in the car when she was shot.

The Irmo Police Department said the incident took place around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers arrived to the scene shortly after and pronounced Borys dead.

After talking with witnesses and viewing surveillance footage, Irmo police said investigators learned the two women did not know each other and were involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting.

It’s unclear what led up to the argument or what the two women were arguing about.

“Unfortunately, this is a situation where tempers flared, and someone let anger get the best of them.  One rash decision has impacted the lives of two families and countless others who witnessed this tragic event.” Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale said on Facebook.  “Senseless is the only word I can think of to describe what happened today.”

Harrison initially fled from the parking lot, but called to turn herself in around 5:30 p.m. She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday night.

Jail records show Harrison is charged with murder, unlawfully carrying a pistol and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The New York Post reported Harrison was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, but her private attorney waived the hearing.

Tyler said his wife’s death was only six days after her younger brother Brandon died from a gunshot wound

He told local news outlets that Alexandria, who worked as a cosmetologist and was enrolled in nursing school, was “the best wife you could ever ask for” and “a great mother.

Six people are dead and another was wounded Friday in a series of shootings in Tate County, Mississippi after a man opened fire on his ex-wife and potentially other family members, Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told CNN.

The suspect, Richard Dale Crum, 52, was arrested after the alleged rampage and is facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with the case, the sheriff’s office said. Additional charges are expected to be filed, the department said.

Authorities got the first 911 call around 11 a.m. ET after the suspect pulled into the parking lot of a store in Arkabutla, a small rural town in northern Mississippi, and fired into the car next to him where he fatally shot the driver, Lance said. Another person in the vehicle was not injured.

Lance said the suspected gunman went into the store then took off, driving to his ex-wife’s home. Lance said the suspect shot and killed his ex-wife before striking her fiancé, who was also in the residence.

Deputies caught up to the suspect after finding a vehicle matching its description in front of a residence that authorities determined belonged to him, Lance said.

On a small road behind the suspect’s home, authorities found two men who had been shot and killed. One was found on the road and the other was in a vehicle, Lance said.

Another two victims were found shot and killed in a house neighboring the suspect’s home, Lance said. According to Lance, deputies believe the suspect might be related to the victims, a man and woman.

Lance said another person was injured in the shootings. That person was treated by emergency crews and not taken to a hospital for additional treatment, Lance said.

Deputies took the suspect into custody as he was trying to leave the scene near his house, Lance said.

Lance said deputies found several handguns and a shotgun in the suspect’s car. The suspect is being held at the Tate County jail, according to Lance.

The victims have not been identified. Lance said a motive is unclear at this time.

CNN has not been able to determine if Crum has obtained an attorney.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is working with local law enforcement in the investigation, Bailey Martin, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation told CNN.

Gov. Tate Reeves said he’d been briefed on the shootings, explaining in a tweet that the suspect is believed to have acted alone.

“I will ensure that the full resources of the state are available to law enforcement as we continue to investigate the situation,” Reeves said.

Tate County is in northwest Mississippi, about 30 minutes south of Memphis, Tennessee.

Michael Troy Hutto

Salt Life cofounder Michael Troy Hutto has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for manslaughter. According to court documents Michael Troy Hutto and Lora Grace Duncan, 18, were at a Florida hotel when the teenager was fatally shot. Apparently Michael Troy Hutto and Lora Grace Duncan were play fighting with a loaded gun when the firearm went off striking the Florida teenager. Instead of calling for help Michael Troy Hutto would flee the scene.

Soon after Michael Troy Hutto would be transported to a hospital for a possible overdose. Lora Grace Duncan parents would call the police after they had not heard from their daughter for 48 hours and told officers that his daughter was with Michael Troy Hutto. Police would track down her cell phone to the Florida hotel.

Police would then put out an alert regarding Michael Troy Hutto and his vehicle. They soon learned of his overdose and tracked him down to the hospital. The next day Michael Troy Hutto would tell police the story and he would be arrested. Michael Troy Hutto would end up pleading guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in prison

Michael Troy Hutto More News

Michael Troy Hutto, the co-founder of the Salt Life brand, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Thursday in the October 2020 death of a Lake City teen.

The Lake City teen, 18-year-old Lora Grace Duncan, was found shot to death in Hutto’s hotel room in Riviera Beach on Oct. 29, 2020.

According to Palm Beach County court documents, Duncan’s family was present at the hearing via Zoom and a victim impact statement was read in court.

Hutto pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a firearm and was credited for 79 days already served in jail.

According to Hutto’s initial 2020 arrest report from the Riviera Beach Police Department, he and Duncan were headed to the Florida Keys to see friends of his. They stopped at the Hilton in Riviera Beach and spent time on the beach.

Later, the two were “playing inside of the hotel room as if they were shooting with their finger and a gun,” according to the report. Duncan was sitting on the bathroom counter and Hutto “pointed the gun at Gracie, at which time; it went off and shot her,” the report said.

Hutto then put the gun into his Adidas backpack, left the hotel, got into his 2020 green Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and “drove until he ran out of gas at a gas station,” the report said.

Early in the morning on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Hutto walked into a BP station near Interstate 95 and International Golf Parkway in St. Augustine and asked for help

He was “reportedly twitching, making delusional comments, and crying while his eyes were rolling into the back of his head,” the report detailed.

Hutto was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville to be treated for an overdose.

Duncan’s father called police after he hadn’t had contact with her for more than 48 hours, the report said, and he had last spoken with her on Sunday, October 25, 2020. He said he was able to track her phone to the Hilton in Riviera Beach.

Duncan’s father told police she was with Hutto, who he identified as her boyfriend.

Police put out a BOLO for Hutto’s green Dodge Challenger after Duncan’s body was found. The Riviera Beach Police Department was contacted by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, alerting them of Hutto’s overdose in St. Augustine and that he was taken to the hospital.

A Riviera Beach detective came to the hospital on Thursday, October 29, 2020 to talk to Hutto. During that conversation, “Hutto uttered, which was not verbatim, ‘Oh my God, I think, I hurt my Gracie’ as he began to cry,” according to the report. Hutto said he did not wish to speak anymore and asked the detective to return to the hospital the next day.

The detective returned to the hospital on Friday, October 30, 2020 to speak with Hutto, at which point he recounted what happened and said the gun was inside of his car, still inside of the black Adidas backpack with all of his medications.

Hutto was taken into custody by the Florida Highway Patrol that day. He was booked into the Duval County Jail and was transferred to the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.

In 2013, Hutto and the other co-founders of Salt Life sold their entire business to the new owners, the company previously said in a statement.
