North Carolina authorities and the FBI confirmed this week they are looking into the death of Shanquella Robinson, a 25-year-old woman who died mysteriously during a trip to Mexico with her friends.

Robinson’s family has been actively seeking answers since she was found dead last month in Cabo, less than 24 hours after she arrived. The FBI’s Charlotte division said they launched an investigation into the matter.

“The FBI Charlotte Field Office has opened an investigation in the death of Charlotte resident Shanquella Robinson in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on or about October 29, 2022,” a spokesperson told Insider this week. “Due to the ongoing investigation, we have no further comment.”

A US State Department spokesperson told Insider that when a US citizen dies overseas, they “provide all appropriate consular assistance to the family,” adding that they have no other comment at this time.

Robinson, the owner of hair braiding business Exquisite Babies, traveled to Mexico with her friends for a birthday celebration. During the vacation, the group reportedly stayed in a luxury villa they booked through CaboVillas.com.

Local news reported that Robinson’s friends called her mother, Salamondra Robinson, and informed her that something had happened to her daughter.

“They said she wasn’t feeling well. She had alcohol poisoning,” Salamondra Robinson told WJZY. “They couldn’t get a pulse. Each one of the people that was there with her was telling different stories.”

But an autopsy later revealed that Robinson’s spine was cracked and she had a broken neck. The group of friends traveled back to the US, while Robinson’s body was held there for about two weeks, per WJZY.

A Cabo Villas representative told Insider that they are “saddened” about the incident and said they’re working with local authorities.

“The team at Cabo Villas has been in full cooperation with local emergency and public safety authorities regarding the incident from the initial contact for assistance onward,” the representative said. “We are working diligently to determine the facts surrounding this incident, which is currently being investigated as an isolated criminal matter that happened involving guests at a private villa located in Los Cabos.”

In the video, a person could be heard saying, “Quella, can you at least fight back?” The video set social media ablaze this week, with thousands calling for justice for the Robinson family

“They attacked her,” Bernard Robinson told TMZ. “They put a hole in my heart. That was my only child. I’m heartbroken. I can’t even be a granddaddy. I can’t walk her down the aisle. I can’t hear her voice.”

He continued, “They left her in that house ma’am. They left her there for the maid to find her. Do you know how much pain my daughter suffered?…I just want justice.”

WSOC-TV reported that the State Attorney General’s Office of Baja California said there’s an ongoing investigation and that they are collecting evidence related to the case.

The Robinson family created a GoFundMe that has nearly reached its goal, raising more than $330,000 as of Saturday. Kyrie Irving reportedly donated $65,000 to the fundraiser.

“We face a tremendous unexpected financial burden and a great deal of pain as we prepare to lay my sister to rest,” Robinson’s sister, Quilla Long, wrote in the description.

Robinson’s funeral was held in Charlotte on Saturday, and hundreds of people were in attendance to pay their respects, according to reports. Per WSOC-TV, nobody has been charged in connection to this incident.

Colorado Springs police have identified Anderson Lee Aldrich as the shooter behind the deadly Club Q shooting that took place overnight. According to police reports Anderson Lee Aldrich allegedly walked into Club Q and immediately began shooting killing five people and leaving 18 more with injuries. An internet search reveals that Anderson Lee Aldrich was arrested for a bomb threat back in 2021 after his mother called police to report that he threatened her with a bomb and had access to weapons and ammunition. Police have identified the suspect in Saturday night’s mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado, but are still investigating whether the attack was a hate crime.

Police say Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, used a long rifle to carry out the attack and was already subdued by patrons at Club Q by the time officers arrived. Authorities say at least 5 people were killed and 18 injured in the attack, though they warned that those numbers are not final.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez delivered an update to reporters alongside city Mayor John Suthers and other officials Sunday morning. Aldrich is in custody and is receiving treatment of injuries at a local hospital.

Police say they received the first call regarding the attack at 11:56 p.m. on Saturday, and the first officer was dispatched to the scene at 11:57. The officer arrived to the scene at 12:02 a.m. and took the already-subdued suspect into custody before calling for more support.

Aldrich had a previous run-in with police in 2021, when police arrested him for allegedly making a bomb threat against two homes in Colorado Springs, according to KRDO.

It was reported to police at the time that Aldrich, then 21, had created a homemade explosive device and had weapons and ammunition. Police arrived to the scene and Aldrich refused to surrender, but was later taken into custody.

Aldrich faced two counts of felony menacing and three counts of first-degree kidnapping for the incident.

Officials say the number of victims at the club is fluctuating, as some of those injured traveled to area hospitals using private means.

Vasquez says “at least two heroic people” took action to stop the shooter from causing more damage

The investigation is in its early stages, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is on the scene to assist.

A spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Fire department told FOX 21 that 34 firefighters and 11 ambulances responded to the scene.

Jonah Adam Murders Mother And 3 Children

Jonah Adam

Police have arrested Jonah Adam and have charged him with the murders of a mother and her three children in Virginia. According to police reports 911 received a call from JoAnna Cottle who said there was a masked intruder inside of her home and while police were rushing to the scene the 911 operator heard gunshots. Jonah Adam allegedly shot and killed 39-year-old JoAnna Cottle and her three children, 13-year-old Kaelyn Parson and 4-year-old twins Kinsey and Jayson Cottle. Jonah Adam who is the father of the twins is a former member of the Navy. Jonah Adams would flee to Maryland where he was arrested.

A tight knit family is dealing with a sudden and unimaginable loss after a mother and her three children were killed inside their Chester home early Friday morning.

The bodies were discovered at a home in the 4200 block of Laurel Oak Road after police responded to a 911 call about a disturbance just before 5 a.m.

Chesterfield Police identified the victims as 39-year-old JoAnna Cottle and her three children, 13-year-old Kaelyn Parson and 4-year-old twins Kinsey and Jayson Cottle.

JoAnna Cottle’s sister told Jon Burkett that the 39-year-old had a “huge heart and loved [her children] and our family.”

Hours after the crime, federal agents and police in Maryland arrested 35-year-old Navy veteran Jonah Adams, the father of the twins.

“It took me a second because there hadn’t been anything about him recently,” Cottle’s sister said.

She said her sister and Adams broke up before the babies were born.

“After their birth there was a period where they were trying to work things out, but reconciliation never came to fruition,” Cottle’s sister said. “Really the only connection they had left was a small amount of child support that would come out of Adams’ check.”

Cottle’s friends, Kaelyn’s middle school classmates and neighbors woke up to the horrifying sound of shots fired, a crime scene and detectives knocking on doors and asking questions.

Their aunt remembered the three children as “amazing” and “smart.”

Kaelyn expressed herself through art, according to her aunt. And one of her favorite drawings of a hummingbird is symbolic as all four have now gained their wings, she said.

“They were amazing kids,” she said. “Smart — I mean Kaelyn, if you talk to anyone at her school, they’d tell you she was. They all loved her.

The twins were full of life and loved to start a conversation by saying, “I have a question,” Cottle’s sister remembered.

Crime Insider sources told Burkett that Adams came to the house around 4 a.m. That is when those sources said Cottle called 911 after she saw him outside the home wearing a type of camouflage mask.

“Ms. Cottle, the mother of the three children, called in reference to a possible intruder. As of our officers were responding, we were able to hear gunshots,” Lt. Col. Chris Hensley with Chesterfield Police said Friday. “Once the officers got on scene, they immediately entered the residence to find the suspect was gone. And then they found the four deceased victims… all from gunshot wounds.”

Burkett said officers found Cottle had previously filed for a protective order, but that it was denied by a judge. As a result, police focused their investigation on Adams and his whereabouts.

“Police were able to get information pretty quickly that Adams, from Clinton, Maryland, was in Chesterfield County around the time of the disturbance call and murders,” Burkett said.

Hensley said the department coordinated with AFT agents and law enforcement in Richmond and Maryland, so officers “were able to establish surveillance upon his residence in Maryland where he was seen and taken into custody.

Adams is being held without bond at the Charles County Jail in Maryland awaiting an extradition hearing. He is facing four counts of first-degree murder.

If you have information about the case that could help detectives, call Chesterfield County Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
