Avantae Deven is an alleged killer from North Carolina who has been charged with the murders of her two adopted children and now prosecutors have announced they are seeking the death penalty
According to police reports Avantae Deven two adopted children Blake and London Deven had not been seen for years. London Deven was last seen in 2019. The last sighting of Blake Deven was in 2022 when he was caught on a Walmart surveillance camera however their adopted mother did not report them missing until 2024
After a lengthy police investigation officers would charge Anantae Deven with two counts of murder plus an assortment of other charges. Officers believe that the children were badly abused before ultimately being killed by Deven
Now prosecutors in North Carolina have announced that if Avantae Deven is found guilty that they intend to seek the death penalty.
In the majority of these cases with the death penalty on the table the suspect ends up taking a plea deal in order to escape capital punishment

North Carolina prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty against a Fayetteville woman accused of killing her two adopted children, Blake and London Deven.
Avantae Deven faces five felony charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and child abuse. A grand jury indicted her on March 10. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 6.
Cumberland County Assistant District Attorney Kayley Haber filed notice Tuesday that the state intends to pursue capital punishment in the case.
Blake and London Deven had not been seen for years before the charges were filed. Police said Blake was last seen in 2022 at a Walmart on Ramsey Street, but Avantae Deven did not report him missing until 2024. London was last seen in 2019 in Fayetteville.
During a news conference, Fayetteville Police Chief Kemberle Braden said investigators believe both children are dead.
“Our evidence shows that both Blake and London are deceased,” Braden said.
He said the children’s adoptive mother is responsible for repeatedly abusing them and ultimately killing them. Investigators allege the abuse included starvation.
