The second-year player faces charges of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and domestic violence resulting in moderate bodily injury, Avon police said.

The incident occurred on December 26 when officers were called to respond to a report of a fight between two adults, according to FOX 59. Ogletree was reportedly detained at the scene, and a victim was transferred to the hospital.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Thursday, and he turned himself in to authorities the next day.

Drew Ogletree More News

Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree was arrested in Hendricks County, Indiana, on Friday on allegations of domestic violence.

Ogletree, a 2022 sixth-round pick, was arrested by deputies and charged with two level six felonies: domestic violence committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, according to state records.

A level six felony carries a penalty of up to 2½ years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Ogletree was arrested at 3:42 p.m. Friday, according to records, and had not been released as of Friday evening. The Colts acknowledged the situation in a statement released Friday night.

“We are aware of the disturbing allegations involving Drew Ogletree,” it read. “The team takes these matters seriously. We have notified the NFL and are in the process of gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time.”

According to the Avon, Indiana, police department, the arrest stemmed from an incident on Tuesday evening. Officers were dispatched to a residence to address a domestic disturbance between Ogletree and a woman.

The first officer on the scene wrote in a probable cause affidavit provided to ESPN that the woman was discovered in an upstairs bedroom in pain. The woman told police that Ogletree “body slammed” her to the ground during an argument. An ambulance was called and the woman was transported to the hospital, police said.

The confrontation, according to the affidavit, happened while Ogletree’s young son was in the home. After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued Thursday and Ogletree turned himself in to the Hendricks County Jail on Friday.

The Colts, who are in the thick of the AFC playoff race, play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in a key game for their postseason hopes. It’s unclear whether Ogletree will be eligible to play.

The second-year tight end spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve but has returned in 2023 to play in 12 games, catching nine passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Sophia Simmons News

An Arizona woman is accused of killing her daughter and dumping her body in a large trash can on Christmas Eve.

Sophia Simmons, 38, is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, child abuse and tampering with physical evidence, according to Phoenix police.

Phoenix police were called to the area around 8 p.m. on Dec. 24 after a man looking for firewood inside a dumpster found the body of a small child between the ages of five and seven stuffed inside a plastic storage tote, according to a probable cause statement obtained by PEOPLE.

The child had multiple injuries on her legs, arms and torso.

“Some of the injuries appeared to be open wounds and others were in multiple stages of healing and there were scars from previous injuries on her limbs and torso,” the document states.

The following day, police received a call from a tipster in New York who alleged they received a call from Simmons who allegedly “told the person that she had beaten her child and it went too far.”

Simmons allegedly told the tipster that after the beating she left her home and when she returned her daughter was not breathing, according to the statement. She allegedly told the tipster she tried CPR but she couldn’t revive her.

“Sophia then remained with the victim for the next five days before taking the victim to a dumpster and placing the victim in a dumpster,” according to the statement.

Phoenix officers reported surveilling Simmons’ townhouse and “it appeared that someone had been attempting to clean the townhouse,” the document states.

Police served a search warrant and discovered the home “appeared to have been emptied of its contents, the couches were in the patio and the cushions were missing.”

Simmons was later detained in Tonopah, Ariz. She is being held on a $1 million bond. A court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 2. It’s unclear if she has retained an attorney.

Sophia Simmons Other News

Phoenix police say a woman is accused of killing her daughter and putting the body in a dumpster on Christmas Eve.

At around 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 24, officers responded to the area of 31st and Grand avenues regarding a body that was found in a dumpster near a business. Officers determined the body was that of a “school-aged” girl.

A tip was received on Monday that 38-year-old Sophia Simmons placed the child’s body in a dumpster and that the child may have died from injuries during an assault by the suspect.

According to court documents, a witness was looking through a dumpster for firewood when they saw a storage tote with the lid partially opened. When the witness looked inside they reportedly saw a child’s body.

The witness alerted a nearby security guard who helped call the police. When Phoenix police officers and an official with the Medical Examiner’s Office arrived at the scene, they located the body of a girl believed to be between 5 and 7 years old.

The girl’s body appeared to have injuries to the legs, arms and torso, according to court documents. It also appeared to investigators that some of the wounds were in multiple stages of healing and there were scars from previous injuries.

On December 25, a witness in New York reported to police that they received a phone call from Simmons who claimed she had “beaten her child and it went too far.” The witness claims Simmons told her she left the house after beating the victim and when she returned the victim was not breathing.

According to the police report, Sophia Simmons remained with the victim’s body for the next five days before taking it to a dumpster where it was later found on December 24.

Detectives secured a search warrant for Sophia Simmons’ home near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road and found evidence of someone trying to clean a crime scene. At that time, Simmons was not home.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Simmons’ phone records and learned her device was near Indio, California, and was headed back toward Arizona. Records state she was later stopped outside of Phoenix, near 411th Avenue and Interstate 10, and was taken to Phoenix Police Headquarters.

A review of her phone records showed Simmons’ device was in the area of the dumpster where the victim was found at around 10:30 a.m. on December 24.

She was booked into jail on multiple charges including first-degree murder, child abuse, and tampering with evidence.

According to an attorney during the initial court appearance, Simmons was involved in a prior case in another state involving a child, though details of that investigation were not immediately known.

The investigation is ongoing

Kimberlee Singler, 35, is wanted on suspicion of multiple counts of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, child abuse and assault.

Singler and the 11-year-old were treated for their injuries and transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Singler was last seen on Saturday and her current whereabouts are unknown, according to the department.

Kimberlee Singler News

An initial burglary call led Colorado Springs investigators to discover the bodies of two dead children. Police now say their mother is the suspect in their murders, and she’s on the run.

Officers issued an arrest warrant for 35-year-old Kimberlee Singler. She’s considered a fugitive in the killings of her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, as well as the attempted murder of her 11-year-old daughter.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said its investigation started in the 5300 block of Palomino Ranch Point on Dec. 19, when they were called to the home for a burglary.

“Very surprising. This has always been a quiet neighborhood. Nothing really happens here. We all really know each other,” neighbor Daniel Lane told FOX31.

Police found Singler and her 11-year-old daughter with injuries. At that time, they also discovered the bodies of her two youngest inside the apartment.

“The kids play out here all the time. There was just a snowman right there that they built a week ago. It finally just melted,” Lane said.

Police said the 11-year-old is safe and being taken care of.

As investigators looked further into this case, they found the initial report of burglary to be unfounded.

On Tuesday, investigators established probable cause and obtained an arrest warrant for Singler on several charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of felony child abuse.

When the warrant was issued, the department’s Violent Offender Force began efforts to find Singler to arrest her, but she hasn’t been found. Police say she was last seen on Saturday, four days after the killings, and her whereabouts are unknown.

A $10 million bond was set by the court.

“The fact she’s still on the loose, do I need a security door on my home? What’s happening? Where’d she go?” Lane said. “The person in question, she was the daughter who lived in the home. Her van was over there — it’s gone.”

“I have heard nothing about the grandmother who owns the condo and lives there as well,” Lane said.

Police say this is an active investigation.

Damarcus Coley News

A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed by her 14-year-old brother during a “domestic altercation” over Christmas presents, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The shooting took place on Christmas Eve in Largo, a city in the Tampa Bay area.

The incident involved 23-year-old Abrielle Baldwin, a mother of two and the victim of the shooting, and her two brothers Damarcus Coley, 14, and Darcus Coley, 15.

A press release from Pinellas police states that the three siblings went Christmas shopping on Sunday along with their mother Joyce and Abrielle’s 11-month-old and six-year-old sons.

“While they were shopping, 15-year-old Darcus was jealous that their mother Joyce was getting 14-year-old Damarcus more gifts than he was receiving,” Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said in a Tuesday press conference.

“So they had this family spat about who was getting what, and what money was being spent on who, and they’re having this big thing going on in the store and they’re all arguing with each other,” Gualtieri added.

After leaving the store, the family headed to their grandmother’s house. The argument was still ongoing when the family arrived, culminating in Damarcus taking out a semi-automatic handgun and threatening to shoot Darcus in the head.

An uncle who had been at the grandmother’s house stepped in to separate the two boys and brought Damarcus outside to the driveway.

Baldwin, while holding her 11-month-old son in a carrier, approached her brother and told Damarcus “to stop arguing because it was Christmas,” police wrote.

Damarcus started arguing with his sister and threatened to shoot her and the baby. The 14-year-old then shot Baldwin. The bullet went through her left arm and into her chest. The baby was unharmed.

Shortly after the shot was fired, Darcus exited his grandmother’s house and found that his brother shot his sister. He took out another firearm and shot Damarcus. Darcus then tossed his gun into a nearby yard and fled the scene.

Emergency workers responded to the scene of the shooting and Baldwin and Damarcus were transported to a local hospital. Baldwin was pronounced dead at the hospital while Damarcus underwent surgery.

Damarcus is in stable condition and will transported to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice upon his release from the hospital, Sheriff Gualtieri said.

After the shooting, Darcus fled to a relative’s house. After he tried contacting his mother, he was located by police and arrested. Darcus made statements alluding to self-harm when police took him in, so he was transported to a mental health facility.

He will be transferred next to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.

Damarcus Coley has been charged with first degree murder, child abuse and delinquent possession of a firearm. Prosecutors are reviewing his case to decide if he will be tried as an adult for the killing of his sister.

Darcus has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. The firearm Darcus used in the shooting is still missing.

Gualtieri said in Tuesday’s press conference that the two boys carried guns all the time, according to interviews with their relatives, and they had both previously been booked for car burglaries and other crimes.

“The problem is, is you got way too many kids out there with way too many guns,” Gualtieri said. “They’re not old enough to understand and have the right coping mechanisms to deal with this stuff when they are upset.”

It’s believed that both guns used in the shooting were obtained illegally, either purchased on the street or stolen from unlocked cars.

“In the last thirty days, we’ve taken reports where seventeen guns have been stolen from unlocked cars,” Gualtieri said.
