Elroy Harrison is a an alleged killer from Virginia who has been tied to two murders that took place nearly forty years ago

According to police reports Jacqueline Lard was reported missing from a real estate office where she was working in on November 15 1986. Her coworkers would walk into a bloody scene the next day where it became apparent something violent took place. Kids playing in the woods would find her body the next day

A Virginia man has been arrested after being connected to two cold case murders through DNA evidence.

The first murder occurred in 1986, authorities said. Jacqueline Lard of Stafford County was last seen on Nov. 15, 1986, as the real estate office where she worked closed for the day. The next morning, Lard’s coworkers found a crime scene at the office that the Stafford Police Department say indicated a “horrific struggle.” Investigators determined that the 32-year-old and her vehicle were both missing. Two juveniles playing in a wooded area found Lard’s body the next day beneath a pile of discarded carpet.

The second murder occurred in March 1989, when Stafford County woman Amy Baker disappeared while visiting family in Falls Church, Virginia, Fairfax County police said. Baker, 18, never returned home from the visit. Her car was found unoccupied that same night, and her family reported her missing. Her family searched the area and found Baker’s body in a wooded area near an exit ramp on I-95.

Forensic evidence from both murders was used to identify Baker and Lard’s alleged killer. In 2021, detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department’s cold case team submitted evidence from Baker’s death to DNA Labs International. A DNA profile was created and uploaded to Virginia’s state database. This allowed those investigating Lard’s death to connect the two killings.

Detectives then used forensic genetic genealogy, with the assistance of Parabon NanoLabs and the Virginia State Police’s Unsolved Violent Crimes and Cold Cases Analytical Support Team, to identify the family name of a possible suspect. Through that, police began to investigate 65-year-old Elroy Harrison, a Stafford County resident

The investigation into Harrison began in February 2024. On March 4, Harrison was indicted by a Stafford County grand jury on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, abduction with the intent to defile and aggravated malicious wounding of Lard. Harrison has not yet been charged in relation with Baker’s murder, Fairfax County officials said, but an investigation is ongoing.

Elroy Harrison was arrested on March 5, and remains in the Rappahannock Regional Jail. He has been denied bond, jail records show.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jacqueline’s and Amy’s family and friends and we hope this arrest can bring them some peace,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Stafford County, Virginia, investigators arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection to two cold case murders that occurred in 1986 and 1989, after advancements in DNA forensics led to his identification.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office announced that 65-year-old Elroy Harrison was indicted on Monday on charges of first-degree murder, abduction with intent to defile and aggravated malicious wounding, in the death of 32-year-old Jacqueline Lard.

In a post on Facebook, the sheriff’s office said Lard was last seen on Nov. 14, 1986, when she was working at Mount Vernon Realty in the 300 block of Garrison Road.

The office closed at 9 p.m. that night, though Lard never made it home

The next morning, employees of other businesses in the area were getting ready to open for the day and discovered a scene at the realty office that indicated there was some sort of horrific struggle, the sheriff’s office said.

Both Lard and her vehicle were missing from the scene, and detectives from the sheriff’s office, with the help of the Virginia State Police Crime Scene Unit and the FBI, processed the scene and collected evidence, including blood.

On Nov. 16, 1986, two juveniles were playing in a wooded area in Woodbridge, Virginia when they discovered a body under a pile of discarded carpet. Stafford’s detectives also processed that scene, along with the FBI and Prince William detectives, and the body was identified as Jacqueline Lard.

Her missing vehicle was found on Dec. 18, 1986, in Fairfax County, which also presented investigators with additional evidence to process.

While investigators from all the agencies involved exhausted all the leads, none led to the identification of a suspect and the case went cold.

As forensic investigative genetic genealogy improved, Stafford County Sheriff D.P. Decatur, Jr. and Detective D.K. Wood pounced at the opportunity to use the advancements to possibly identify the killer.

Wood worked with Parabon NanoLabs, which provides DNA phenotyping, to analyze the DNA found at the crime scene, which linked the murder of Lard to the unsolved murder of Amy Baker, who was murdered in Fairfax County in 1989.

Stafford and Fairfax County investigators worked together to bring the murder suspect to justice, and on Dec., 14, 2023, they were able to get a name.

Following up on leads created by modern technology, investigators obtained a search warrant to get DNA from Harrison, and in February, the Department of Forensic Science reported the DNA was a match.

Harrison was indicted by a Stafford County grand jury on Monday, and he was arrested Tuesday.

He has since been placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail and is being held without bond.

The Fairfax County Police Department is collaborating with prosecutors to establish charges against Harrison for Baker’s murder, as well.

According to the Fairfax Police Department, 18-year-old Baker was last seen leaving a relative’s house in Falls Church on the night of March 29, 1989.

Her car was found on the side of Interstate 95 later that night. Amy’s body was found on March 31, 1989, in a wooded area off the same interstate.

Genevieve Springer News

A Murphy woman has been charged with first degree murder in the death of her twin 4-year-old sons, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said late Sunday night, March 3.

Genevieve Ellen Springer, 44, was taken into custody Sunday, March 3, by the sheriff’s office at around 3:46 p.m. She was not given the option for bond.

According to officials, the sheriff’s office and Cherokee County Emergency Services responded to a 911 call at 75 Gooseberry Road in Murphy on Saturday, March 2. The caller was a Cherokee County father who arrived at the home of his separated wife to exercise custody of his 4-year-old twin sons around 10 a.m. that day.

Upon arrival to the home, he found his twin sons deceased, officials said

An investigation was launched by detectives with the sheriff’s office, agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and assistant district attorneys from the office of District Attorney Ashley Welch.

Officials said Springer, who has been named as the mother of the deceased twin boys, was hospitalized in North Georgia and charged with two counts of first degree murder by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Springer was released from the hospital on March 2 and subsequently arrested in Union County, Georgia. She waived extradition and was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on March 3, where she is currently held without bond.

The date of Springer’s offenses was listed as Monday, Feb. 26, but the date and time of death is still being determined. Officials said the twins’ father said he last saw his sons alive on Feb. 26. Currently, the date of Springer’s offense on the warrants is listed as a range of Feb. 26 to March 2. The sheriff’s office said it is hopeful autopsies will narrow down the date and time of the twins’ passing.

Springer’s court date is listed at Thursday, March 7.

On Saturday, March 2, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office made a post on Facebook that it was investigating a homicide in the Harshaw community of Murphy and that there was no danger to the local community.

Corrinne O’Connor is a woman from Kansas City Missouri who has been charged in the death of her five year old son Grayson O’Connor

According to police reports five year old Grayson O’Connor would fall from a seventeen story window to his death. Apparently Corrinne O’Connor had taken off the safety latches on the window and left it wide open

Neighbors would tell police they had seen five year old Grayson O’Connor on multiple occasions wandering around the building on his own and that neighbors would feed and care for the child

When questioned by police on what happened to Grayson O’Connor Corrinne O’Connor replied he went out the window. The Kansas City woman did not call 911 when the fall occurred and someone else would discover the body and call police

Corrinne O’Connor would be indicted by a grand jury and charged with Class A felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree which carries a life sentence

Corrinne O’Connor News

A grand jury has indicted the mother of five-year-old Grayson O’Connor, who fell to his death from a Downtown Kansas City apartment building in November.

Corrine O’Connor, was indicted with the Class A felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree.

She was initially charged back in January with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The indictment states that O’Connor acted in a manner that created a substantial risk to the life, body and health of a child.

It also stated she failed to supervise while her and Grayson were together in a 17-story apartment with a fully open window that was accessible to him, and that resulted in the death of the child.

Charging documents say investigators saw an open window on the top floor of the Grand Boulevard Lofts apartment building, noting it was the only open window on the entire wall.

Investigators were called to the 17th floor and found Corrinne O’Connor inside and laying in front of the open window. Court documents say when she was asked where her son was, she said, “went out the window.” They say she didn’t call 911, and Grayson was found by someone walking out of the building.

The range of punishment for a Class A felony in Missouri is no less than 10 years and not to exceed 30 years or life imprisonment.

Corrinne O’Connor More News

The mother of a 5-year-old boy, who died after falling 17 stories from a Kansas City apartment, was indicted Friday by a grand jury in connection with his death.

Corrinne O’Connor, 27, of Kansas City is accused of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child leading to the death of Grayson O’Connor, according to Jackson County court records. The Class A felony carries a maximum term of life in prison under Missouri law.

On Nov. 27, police responded to an alley near the Grand Boulevard Lofts, where a 911 caller had found Grayson.

Officers noticed an open window on the 17th floor and questioned O’Connor in her apartment. She allegedly told police her son had gone out the window, according to court documents. Authorities said she didn’t call 911 to report his fall.

O’Connor allegedly removed safety devices from the window of her apartment that would’ve prevented the window from opening more than a few inches, according to an eviction petition from the apartment building.

Grayson’s death upset neighbors, who said they had seen signs of neglect over the time the boy and his mother lived in the building. At times, they stepped in to feed and house Grayson when they found him wandering the building, neighbors said.

Police were called to the apartment at least eight times since 2018, according to a Star analysis of police records. The reports were for general disturbances and to check the welfare of a person threatening suicide.

Neighbors also said they reported their concerns for Grayson’s welfare to Missouri’s Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline.

O’Connor was officially charged in December, but the records remained under seal until late January. She was booked in jail on Jan. 25 and made her first court appearance the following day via video.

O’Connor’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. She remains in Jackson County jail on a $100,000 bond.

Dustin Duren News

Two young children, who prompted an Amber Alert in New Hampshire, are safe, and their father is in custody after police said he shot and killed their mother.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, 37-year-old Dustin Mark Duren was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Caitlyn Naffziger.

Police said that Duren allegedly shot his wife, Naffziger, on Thursday night in the couple’s shared Berlin, New Hampshire apartment.

The discovery of Naffziger’s body prompted state police to issue an hour-long Amber Alert for the couple’s two daughters, 4-year-old Elowyn Duren and 1-year-old Vaelyn Duren.

Attorney General Formella said that the girls had been last seen in Berlin, New Hampshire, around 8 p.m. Thursday with their father, Duren.

They said Duren “may possibly be armed and dangerous,” but did not offer any additional details.

At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, New Hampshire State Police announced that Elowyn and Vaelyn had been found safe at an Applebee’s restaurant in Keene, which is about three hours south from Berlin.

Authorities said that Duren was taken into custody without incident at the restaurant

On Friday evening, Formella announced that the Amber Alert issued had been canceled.

“The Department of Justice greatly thanks the public for their assistance in this matter and their responsiveness to the alert issued earlier by the New Hampshire State Police,” the attorney general said in a release.
