Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed two more bodies have been found inside a burned home on Beatrice Town Line Road in Bracebridge, where officers responded to a report of gunfire Friday evening.

Police say officers with the Bracebridge OPP detachment were called to the rural property shortly after 8 p.m. on Aug. 1. When they arrived, they discovered a deceased male and found the residence fully engulfed in flames.

A shelter-in-place order was issued during the initial response and lifted just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, police confirmed that two additional bodies were located inside the home during the ongoing investigation. Their identities have not been confirmed, and post-mortem examinations are pending.

Police say they are still searching for 29-year-old Mitchell Gray of Bracebridge, who is wanted for murder. He is described as white, five-foot-eight, with light brown hair and facial hair.

Investigators say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with support from the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Ontario Provincial Police are searching for a 29-year-old man in connection with a death and arson investigation after three people were found dead at a rural home in Bracebridge.

According to a release, officers were called to a residence on Beatrice Town Line Road around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, police discovered one deceased person outside and the house fully engulfed in flames.

Two additional bodies were later found Sunday morning inside the destroyed home.

The OPP says Mitchell Gray, 29, of Bracebridge is wanted on a murder warrant. He is described as a white male, approximately 5’8″ tall, with light brown hair and facial hair.

A shelter-in-place order was put in place during the initial police response, which was lifted at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the deceased. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death and confirm identities.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or Gray’s whereabouts to contact the OPP, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

The man wanted in connection with the ongoing death and arson investigation in Bracebridge has been confirmed dead.

Mitchell Gray, 29, of Bracebridge, who was wanted for murder, died from smoke inhalation, according to a post-mortem test.

This is in connection with the incident that took place on Friday, Aug., 1, when OPP officers responded to reports of gunfire at a home on Beatrice Town Line Road. When police arrived shortly after 8 p.m., they found 60-year-old Paul Gray dead outside of the home, which was fully engulfed in flames. A gunshot wound was determined to be the cause of Paul’s death.

Police announced another grim discovery on the property on Saturday, Aug., 2. “The next day, two additional deceased were found inside the residence,” said Sergeant Joe Brisebois, media coordinator for the central region for OPP.

Sergeant Brisebois said a shelter-in-place order was issued while police searched for a suspect.

“At that point, we started looking for a potential shooter, and a shelter-in-place was put in effect until approximately 1:45 a.m. that morning,” said Brisebois. “Since then, Mitchell Gray, 29 years old, of Bracebridge, has been wanted for murder.”

On Wednesday, the second deceased was confirmed by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to be the accused Mitchell Gray; the third body was confirmed as 59-year-old Anita Gray of Bracebridge. A gunshot wound was determined to be the cause of Anita’s death.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner, the OFPS, and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
