A decades-old murder case could finally be solved in a Nassau County courtroom Monday.

Serial killer Richard Cottingham is due to face a judge for a murder charge that dates all the way back to 1968 in Nassau County. He is reportedly expected to plead guilty in this and four other cases.

Cottingham, also known as the “Times Square Torso Killer” has been found guilty in more than 10 gruesome murders across the tristate area.

Months ago, Nassau police matched DNA evidence connected to Cottingham to the killing of 23-year-old New Hyde Park mom Diane Cusick, who had gone shopping for shoes and never returned home.

Police say Cusick was brutally beaten, murdered and raped in her car. Her father later found Cusick’s body in the backseat of the vehicle in February 1968 at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

Cottingham’s court appearance will be virtual because he is already behind bars in New Jersey.

Cusick’s daughter told News 12 that she would be flying in from Florida for the court proceedings.

Cottingham was featured in the Netflix true crime docuseries “Crime Scene: The Times Square Killer” just last year.

Gary Rasor More News

Yovone Rasor said she and her husband had plans to retire, travel and visit family during the holidays – even see their new grandchild for the first time. But earlier this week, Yovone said she shared a final moment with her husband, Gary Rasor.

Police said Gary was shoved to the floor when he was working at a North Carolina Home Depot store back in October. He was taken to the hospital, but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

“It’s just hard, and I know it sounds silly, but I’m still waiting for him to come back home,” Yovone said through tears Saturday.

Hillsborough police said Gary confronted a man who was allegedly shoplifting on Oct. 18. Surveillance video at the business captured the moment Gary was shoved and hit the concrete floor.

The suspect can be seen walking away pushing a cart of stolen pressure washers, police said

“He saw the video for the first time in the hospital, and he was very upbeat, wasn’t worried about anything until he saw that video. He lost it… he just lost it,” Yovone said.

“It’s just beyond our comprehension that someone would do this for a couple of power washers… that just is mind-boggling,” said Jeff Rasor, Gary’s son.

Gary, who lived with his wife in Durham, North Carolina, spent several days in the hospital, and even celebrated his 83rd birthday there.

“They said they were going to send him to rehab to heal,” Yovone said.

She said she never gave up hope that her husband would recover from his multiple fractures. She said the two bought plane tickets to visit family during the holidays.

Then, the day before Thanksgiving, Yovone said her husband was rushed to the ICU. She said he died days later.

“I can’t get him back… that’s it,” Yovone said

Hillsborough police, who have called the suspect a “menace to society,” said the larceny is now being investigated as a possible homicide. On Friday night, police said Gary’s death was due to complications from the injuries he received in the incident.

Investigators said the suspect captured in surveillance video fled the store in a white, four-door Hyundai Sonata with a North Carolina temporary tag that was “obscured from witnesses.”

Amber Waterman More News

Missouri woman has pleaded not guilty to murdering a Arkansas woman who was 31 weeks pregnant in attempt to steal the baby.

Amber Waterman, 42, was charged Friday with kidnapping resulting in death in the murder of 33-year-old Ashley Bush, who was found near Waterman’s home on November 3.

According to court documents, Waterman and her husband Jamie, also 42, abducted Bush ‘for the purpose and benefit of claiming Ashley Bush’s child as the defendant’s child.’

Officials in Benton County said Waterman lured Bush by using ‘Lucy’ as a pseudonym and a phony job interview posting.

Authorities said the pregnant Bush was looking for a work from home job at the time.

Lucy’ met Bush at an Arkansas library on October 28 and offered to connect her with someone who could get her a job, according to an affidavit.

They made plans to meet again at a convenience store on October 31, with Bush believing she would go with ‘Lucy’ to meet the supposed boss about 13 miles away from the store and 25 miles from where the Watermans live in Missouri.

Bush was dropped off at the store by her fiance, Joshua Willis, who saw her leave with the woman he had seen meet with Bush at the library.

She texted Willis at around 3 p.m. to say that she was on her way back to the convenience store, but when the truck Willis saw Bush get into drove by, it drove past the store, onto a local highway due north.

Willis recognized the truck and that ‘Lucy’, AKA Amber Waterman, was driving.

Suspicious, Willis continued to try and contact his fiancee, going to voicemail. He reported her missing by 6:30 p.m.

She was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound two days later. The unborn child, which Bush had named Valkyrie Grace Willis, was found in a separate location.

The Watermans also accused of having transported Bush across state lines from Arkansas to Missouri.

Social media users discovered Waterman posting to her Facebook account photos of ultrasound, appearing to indicate she was pregnant in the months leading up to the murder.

In addition to the charges against Amber Waterman, husband Jamie has been charged with being an accessory. He also pleaded not guilty.

Waterman waived a formal reading of the indictment against her and made her not guilty plea in federal court Friday.

The US Attorney for the district said that Amber Waterman could face the death penalty if found guilty.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for December 14 with the federal trial set to start on December 14.

Officials have suggested the Watermans will likely face overlapping charges in multiple states given the nature of their offenses.
