According to police reports ambulance attendants would go to a home in Knoxville Tennessee for reports of an unresponsive infant. The little boy would be rushed to a nearby hospital where the infant would ultimately die from his injuries

An 18-year-old North Knoxville man is in the Knox County Jail accused of killing his 3-month-old son.

According to a warrant for Dokes arrest, police were called to an apartment on Forestal Drive just before 8 p.m. for a call about an unresponsive baby. When officers arrived they saw the baby had injuries around the jaw, the warrant said. Police said they determined the baby was in Dokes care when he was injured.
Dokes was taken to the public safety complex where the warrant said he admitted to squeezing the baby’s neck and chin in frustration, resulting in the baby struggling to breath. He also admitted to pushing down hard on the baby’s abdomen, documents said.
The warrant said the baby died at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital just after midnight. The victim will undergo an autopsy to determine cause of death and the full extent of his injuries.
Dokes was booked in the Knox County Jail at 2 a.m. Friday. He’s being held on $1 million bond. He’s schedule to appear in court for a bond hearing on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
