Gwinnett County police said the house fire that claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl on Easter Sunday was intentionally set and police charged the girl’s 15-year-old sibling.

Gwinnett County police charged the boy with malice murder, felony murder and arson.

Officials said crews arrived at Beaver Road at about 4:57 a.m. and found a burning one-story home.

“Once our crews arrived on scene we had heavy fire involvement throughout the entire front of the structure, it was just hidden away from a small wood line,” said Lt. Justin Wilson with the Gwinnett County Fire Department. “When we were arriving on scene, we had reports of two people being trapped inside the home, a 10-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy.”

The ten-year-old girl was Zoe McCue. Firefighters found her deceased in the home.

Fire crews searched for the 15-year-old for hours. He was later found outside the home around 9 a.m.

“Through coordination and cooperation with the Gwinnett County police investigators and Gwinnett County Fire Arson investigators, it was determined that this fire was arson and intentional in nature,” Investigator Christian D’Allaird with the Gwinnett County Police Department said.

William McCue was at work with his teenaged daughter at the time of the fire. A coworker broke the news to him.

“I went over to her, and she told me I had to go home, there was a fire,” he said. “I tried to get a hold of my wife and she answered the phone and said, come home.”

When he got home, he saw the devastation.

He recalls his 10-year-old daughter lovingly.

“She kind of like take the lead and be in charge. She’s a handful of a ten year and wants to be the boss of everybody. That’s little Zoe,” he said.

Organizations including the Red Cross and One Powerhouse Outreach have already stepped in to help the displaced family of two adults, four children and two dogs.

“You wake up on Easter Sunday and you realize that you lost everything in a fire including a child, and that is just tragic within itself, absolutely.” Demi Oche, the founder of the organization said. “So, we just want to help them get back into a better place.”

McCue said it will take a lot of help from the community to help them.

“Prayers, love and support. That’s what I ask for. We’ve got a wonderful community and I thank God for the type of people who are out here,” he said.

“This is an extremely tragic situation for the family,” Wilson said. “Our heartfelt condolences from (Gwinnett Fire) go out to them.”

According to a family member, smoke alarms are installed but did not go off. Wilson said it’s important for people to check the status of their smoke alarms.

The Gwinnett County Police Department said its investigators will be working closely with the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services throughout the investigation.

Georgia man is being charged with murder after allegedly leaving his own grandmother in a freezer for months.

Robert Tincher III, 29, was charged with felony murder after he allegedly put his grandmother, Doris Cumming, 82, in a freezer for months, according to Fox 5

Floyd County Police said that the discovery of Cumming’s body was made on Thursday in a home that the two shared in Armuchee.

An investigator said that Cumming was still alive when she was put into the freezer.

“From what we determined, at the time, he believed she was still breathing and had some movement at the time she was going into the freezer,” said Floyd County Investigator Brittany Werner.

The body remained in the freezer for months, and police say Tincher moved the freezer to a different location when the body was still inside it.

Police said that they believe that Cumming was injured in December after a fall, and that Tincher didn’t seek medical attention for his grandmother, instead dragging her through the home.

A warrant for Tincher’s arrest states that he “heard and saw numerous bones break.” He wrapped Cumming in plastic bags and placed her in a large freezer, according to police.

Charges state that Tincher “acknowledged her back broke going into the freezer.”

He was also charged with aggravated battery and concealing the death of another

Tincher told an investigator that he didn’t call 911 because there was a warrant out for his arrest for an incident involving terroristic threats that he allegedly made on social media aimed at his wife.

He also told the investigator how much he loved his grandmother.

“He said she was the only family member that gave him the courtesy and love and attention he needed,” Werner said.

An autopsy is being performed on Cumming’s body by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine a cause and time of death.

Joshua Fleetwood, 25, faces felony murder and other charges in the death of Lakevia Jackson outside Metro Fun Center on Metropolitan Parkway on March 17, according to the Atlanta Police Department. He was arrested March 31 after investigators secured warrants charging him in the deadly incident. What began as a night of fun at the bowling alley turned violent after authorities said two parties started arguing over a bowling ball. Fleetwood, who was on a date, and Jackson’s family were on adjacent lanes when the fight broke out, according to Atlanta police Lt. Ralph Woolfolk

“These persons went into the location with the intention of bowling,” Woolfolk said. “At no point were there any weapons inside the location, at no point did anyone come with the intentions of hurting anyone or firing upon anyone.” The argument spilled into the parking lot, police said, where things turned physical and the two parties went to their cars to retrieve guns. A shootout followed, during which Jackson was hit by bullets fired from Fleetwood’s car as it left the parking lot

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail where he remained held as of April 1, online records show. Roughly 41% of Atlanta’s recent homicides are the result of escalating disputes, according to Woolfolk. “We’ve asked the public to work together to try to resolve these conflicts without having to escalate to incidents … of gunfire,” he said.

DeMarcus Little told the courtroom he was no monster. But it took a jury only two hours to find him guilty of murder Tuesday in the death of his girlfriend, Anitra Gunn.

“I’m not the person that you’re making me out to be. I’m not a monster. Because if I was a monster, she would have left me a long time ago,” Little said, according to Channel 2 Action News.

He took the stand in his own defense, hoping to convince the jurors he was not the killer. Evidence convinced the jury otherwise.

Prosecutors believe Little strangled Gunn to death before leaving her body in a wooded area of Crawford County in February 2020. A graduate of Fulton County’s Westlake High, Gunn was 23.

Little, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Gordon, had been arrested and charged with criminal damage to property stemming from a Feb. 5, 2020, incident that left Gunn’s windows broken and her tires slashed. While still in custody, he was charged with Gunn’s murder.

A day after she was reported missing by her father, Christopher Gunn, her damaged car was found abandoned near her home. A Peach County Sheriff’s deputy later spotted a piece of the vehicle on the edge of a wood line and followed tire tracks into the woods, where he found her body covered with sticks.

“The ray of sunshine and the apple of our eye gained her heavenly wings,” Christopher Gunn wrote on a GoFundMe page. “Although we have so many unanswered questions, we are trusting in God thru it all. We are so THANKFUL for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from all over the country.”

At a vigil to honor Gunn, Kelvin Blalock said he hired her to work at his restaurant because of her smile. Many tears had been shed in the restaurant over the past few days.

“She was our sister, she was our teammate,” he said. “We loved her dearly.”

After a week-long trial, the jury found Little guilty of felony murder and aggravated assault but not guilty of malice murder. The judge sentenced him to life without the possibility of parole.
