Jason Brown Convicted In Cop Killing

Jason Brown cop killing

Jason Brown was just convicted in the brutal murder of a police officer in Indiana. According to court documents Jason Brown was involved in an accident where his vehicle rolled over. Southport Police Department Lt. Aaron Allan was attempting to help Jason Brown when Brown would grab a handgun and shoot the officer several times causing his death. Jason Brown would be arrested and convicted of murder. Even though this murder screams for the death penalty Indiana prosecutors decided not to pursue it. Jason Brown will be sentenced in early April 2022

Jason Brown More News

A man has been found guilty of murdering a police officer in 2017.

Jason Brown, 32, was convicted for the murder of Southport Police Department Lt. Aaron Allan. Brown’s trial lasted six days.

Allan was shot nearly a dozen times while responding to a crash. Brown was in the driver’s seat and suspended upside down after the vehicle rolled. Allan was trying to help Brown when he was shot with a handgun.

“We should all strive to carry ourselves with the compassion that Aaron demonstrated both in his professional and personal life,” Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement. “He was a family man who lost his life while trying to do his job and help someone in need. As we come one step closer to providing finality to the criminal matter, our thoughts remain with the Allan family and the Southport Police Department.”

Jason Brown will be sentenced on April 8.

Jason Brown Other News

A verdict is coming Tuesday in the trial of the man who shot and killed Southport Police Lt. Aaron Allan almost five years ago.

Even before the verdict, Lt. Allan’s family is angry and disappointed in the legal turns this case has taken to limit the possible sentence for Jason Brown.

Allan’s father, James, brought several photos of his son to an interview at the Southport Police Department Monday morning.

“The one picture that…,” said James, holding up an empty photo frame fighting tears and his voice cracking, “is the one I don’t have. I’ve got nothing for this picture frame.”

He keeps the empty photo frame as a reminder of the son he lost in the line of duty.

“Many memories that I wish I could share and fill this frame with – a fishing trip, a hunting trip, just sitting in the backyard having a hamburger – I don’t get those pictures,” said James.

Almost five years since his Allan’s death, his family still waits for justice. But no matter the verdict Tuesday, the family says they won’t get justice.

“I still can’t catch my breath,” said James. “I’m angry as hell. My whole family is. I’m pretty sure the community feels just as poorly as I do.”

Brown faces a 45- to 65-year sentence if found guilty of murder.

“I’m apprehensive,” said James. “I want to be hopeful. What the prosecutor’s office promised four-and-a-half years ago isn’t there, but then for what they traded has also been taken away.”

The death penalty was taken off the table when Brown waived a jury trial. Life without parole was eliminated when Judge Mark Stoner granted a defense motion during the trial. The judge ruled that the prosecution had not proven that Brown knew he was shooting a police officer.

The Allan family feels let down repeatedly by the prosecutor.

“It was lackluster at best coming from the prosecutor’s office,” said James. “They asked that we put our trust in them, and in that we were deceived. We were blindsided. I’ve had four-and-a-half years of waiting for justice. My family’s not receiving it.”

On July 27, 2017, Lt. Allan responded to a car crash on Madison Avenue in Homecroft. Allan crawled into an upside-down car to help the driver when he was shot and killed by the driver.

“This was somebody that was there to help another person who maliciously pulled a weapon and fired it at least 18 times, striking another person no less than 11, killing him instantly in that yard: all because he was there to help,” said James. “Aaron wasn’t about catching bad guys. It didn’t matter. ‘What can I do? Who can I help today?’ That’s who my son was. That’s what he wanted to be. And that’s exactly who he is even today.”

This was a bench trial, where Stoner heard seven days of testimony and evidence. Final arguments were made Feb. 15. Stoner will announce his verdict Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in what is expected to be a packed courtroom.

500-pound bear broke into a home in South Lake Tahoe on Friday — and it isn’t the first time. The bear, known as “Hank the Tank,” has broken into dozens of homes in the area and become quite a problem for locals, CBS Sacramento reports.

Locals are contemplating whether or not to have the bear killed, as they believe it may be the only option at this point.

The bear is well-known and now wanted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. A spokesperson said the bear has damaged dozens of homes and is responsible for more than 150 calls.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife have been trying to track Hank for more than six months.

“These are neighborhoods, there’s a lot of people around, traffic and cars. So, we have to do this in a way that is safe for both the public and the bear itself,” said spokesperson Peter Tira. “This is a severely food habituated bear. What that means is this is a bear that has lost all fear of people and it sees people and homes as a source of food.”

The most recent break-in took place on Catalina Drive Friday morning. The bear had broken a small window and squeezed into the home, where the homeowners had no idea how to get him out.

Officers responded and banged on the outside of the house until Hank came out the back door. They then stayed in the area to ensure he continued on his way without damaging or entering other homes.

“I’ve been in town 40 years and I’ve been locking my doors recently and I’ve never done that,” said one local resident, Tim Johnson.

Killing it is a move the Bear League calls cruel and unnecessary.

“We don’t want anybody to get hurt. Nobody wants that,” one person said. “We don’t want the bear to die either.”

The Bear League said it’s still waiting to hear back from Fish and Wildlife about a possible sanctuary move. Meanwhile, a meeting on the issue is set for Wednesday night in Tahoe Keys.

Keagan Crimes who was fatally stabbed in the heart would die at the scene. Police would introduce as evidence searches that Noel Reade made on his phone which included researching survival knives and guns plus asking the question “Does blood come off of shoes”. The judge presiding over the trial would say “You are one of the most dangerous 17-year-olds I’ve ever come across in my 40 years as a solicitor, barrister and judge in describing the now seventeen year old teen killer. Noel Reade must serve nineteen years in prison before he is eligible for release

Noel Reade More News

A teenager who stabbed a man in the heart with a “Rambo-style” knife during a gang feud has been jailed.

Noel Reade was aged 16 when he killed Keagan Crimes, 27, in an attack which began in a convenience store in Winsford, Cheshire, on 11 October 2020.

Reade, now 17, had searched on his phone for phrases such as “does blood wash off shoes” and had researched Rambo knives and guns, police said.

He was convicted of murder and jailed for life with a minimum of 19 years.

The teenager was also convicted at Chester Crown Court of wounding with intent after he injured another man in the attack.

Reade was with a group of four others who were seeking out two men as part of a dispute, Cheshire Police said.

CCTV showed the men had tried to leave the Premier Store in Cheviot Square as the group arrived.

Noel Reade was seen armed with what police described as a “Rambo” knife and went on to kick and push at a glass door while another gang member used a hammer to smash it as the men attempted to hold it shut.

The men managed to escape via a rear door as the group chased them.

As a fight broke out between the gangs, Reade’s associates ran off before he stabbed Mr Crimes in the heart.

The second man, Jason McQuoid, attempted to swipe at the teenager using a tree branch but was slashed in the shoulder and chest.

Mr Crimes died a short time later while Mr McQuoid was discharged from hospital.

Police said the knife was never found and that Noel Reade had buried the weapon and burnt his clothing.

DNA from the scene was later attributed to the teenager, who pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon during the trial.

Det Insp Adam Waller said Noel Reade had shown “no remorse for his actions”.

“My thoughts are with Keagan’s family who have had to sit through and listen to distressing evidence, reliving his last hours that no one should ever have to listen to,” he said.

Noel Reade Other News

A TEEN killer will serve a minimum of 19 years behind bars after a Cheshire judge branded him ‘one of the most dangerous 17-year-olds’ he had ever seen.

Noel Reade, of Crewe, was just 16 when he stabbed Keagan Crimes to death in Winsford on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

The killer can be named after the Guardian was successful in appealing a reporting restriction made by the court during the trial.

His Honour, Judge Steven Everett said: “You are one of the most dangerous 17-year-olds I’ve ever come across in my 40 years as a solicitor, barrister and judge.

“There was no remorse whatsoever.

“You tried to cover your tracks.

“The RIP Keagan post on your Facebook page was not remorse.

“If you had shown remorse you would have admitted it.

“Regrettably, it is the sort of thing, a gangster would do.”

“Your associates ran off. You weren’t going to be put off by that.

“You were still going to try and show them who’s boss.

“There is absolutely no evidence to suggest Keagan Crimes was going to attack you.

“You stabbed him in a vicious way.

“I don’t conclude you didn’t intend to kill him because you didn’t give it any thought.”

Just weeks after the murder, Reade, along with a co-defendant, committed a terrifying aggravated burglary at the home of a couple, using a knife similar to the one he had used to stab Mr Crimes through the chest.

During that incident he threatened the son of the woman who lived there by holding a knife to his throat, saying he would ‘kill him’ and ‘slice him up’.

Gordon Cole, prosecuting, said: “Reade was actually on bail over Keagan Crimes’ murder at the time.

“He was waving the knife around asking for money.

“He put the knife, saying “I’m going to kill you, I’m going to slice you up.”

“It was a targeted attack.”

Defending barrister Michael Hayton QC said Reade was clearly ‘out of control’ in the latter half of 2020.

He said: “He was still a youth when he carried out these crimes.

“The fact they took place over a comparative short space of time is significant I might add.

“He’s a young person with not inconsiderable difficulties.

“During the latter half 2020 he was clearly out of control.

“He is someone not beyond hope, with a basic intelligence to at some point, move on in life.”

Judge Everett raised the sentence to a minimum of 19 years, from a starting point of 12 years, due to the aggravating features.

He also handed him concurrent sentenced of five years and three months for the wounding of Jason McQuoid with intent, two years and eights months for possession of an offensive weapon and five and a half years for the aggravated burglary.
