Capitola police said they arrested an ex-rock musician suspected of killing his girlfriend, who went missing last month.

El Cerrito resident Theobald “Theo” Lengyel, 54, was taken into custody by authorities and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on Tuesday. Lengyel played saxophone, clarinet and keyboards in the rock group Mr. Bungle. He had been a “person of interest” in the disappearance of Capitola resident Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann, 61, who was last seen in Santa Cruz on Dec. 3, El Cerrito police said last month.

Herrmann’s family first reported her missing after she missed a flight to Hawaii, police said. El Cerrito investigators said they initially found Herrmann’s car in front of Lengyel’s home. In the days following Herrmann’s disappearance, Lengyel traveled to Portland, Ore., El Cerrito police said.

“The diligent work of our investigators, in coordination with our law enforcement partners, has led to the apprehension of (Theobald) Lengyel in connection with the tragic homicide of Alice Kamakaokalanil,” a Capitola police statement read. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.”

Tammy Sytch News

Former WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch was sentenced to 17 years in prison on Monday for causing the death of a man while driving drunk.

The 50-year-old Sytch was also sentenced to eight years probation after her jail time is complete.

Sytch pleaded no contest to eight charges in August: one count of DUI manslaughter; driving while license suspended with death; four counts of DUI with damage to person; and two counts of DUI with damage to property.

Authorities said on March 25, 2022, two vehicles were stopped at a traffic signal in Ormond Beach, Fla. A third vehicle was traveling in the same southbound direction on U.S. Highway 1 and failed to stop and crashed into one of the stopped vehicles, which caused that vehicle to then crash into the other vehicle in front of it.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Julian Lasseter, who was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver and passengers in the third vehicle suffered injuries but did not go to a hospital. Sytch’s blood-alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit for the state of Florida.

Sytch was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 and had several previous drunk-driving arrests. She served eight months in jail for a DUI in 2018 and was charged in January 2022 with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of terroristic threats.

Sytch apologized to Lassiter’s family during her sentencing.

“A precious life was lost that tragic day and I’m so incredibly sorry for that,” Sytch said. “I would ask that you give me the opportunity to atone for what I’ve done and then to be released to society to contribute to it in the most positive way possible.

Nick Hogan Case

Nick Hogan, son of the wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, was arrested in Clearwater on a charge of driving under the influence, according to police.

An arrest affidavit said at about 1:18 a.m. Saturday morning, officers who were conducting a stop on Gulf to Bay Boulevard spotted a Dodge Ram that was approaching them in a separate lane.

An officer used his flashlight to signal to Nick Hogan, whose legal name is Nicholas Bollea, that he must move another lane over and slow down, but police say that he did neither.

The Clearwater Police Department said another officer detected that the vehicle was speeding at 51 mph in a 40-mph zone on his in-car radar.

When Bollea was pulled over for a violation of the Move Over Law, officers said he showed signs of impairment, saying he was swaying and unsteady, had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” and had bloodshot, glassy eyes.

According to police, he refused to take a breathalyzer test but failed field sobriety tests.

Bollea previously made headlines in the late 2000s when he, at the age of 17, was involved in a serious crash that left him and his friend, John Graziano, in Bayfront Hospital on Aug. 26, 2007. This incident also happened in Clearwater.

According to Sam & Ash Injury Law, Bollea pled no contest to a charge of reckless driving in May 2008, getting a sentence of eight months in the county jail and five years of probation.

Graziano’s family also sued Bollea and Hulk Hogan for the victim’s injuries, which left him paralyzed and in need of nursing care for the rest of his life. The lawsuit ended in a $1.5 million settlement, the law firm said.

In October 2020, Bryan was initially arrested on charges of fourth-degree assault and strangulation. He ended up pleading guilty to two lesser charges: misdemeanor menacing and misdemeanor assault. Earlier this year, in a profile from The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan said his arrest “got so blown out of proportion” by the media, adding that the encounter was not as physical as the police report states.

“We didn’t even really get that physical,” Bryan said. “We got really loud. We were screaming and because we were in a townhome that had [thin walls], everybody could hear… At the end of the day, [the police] throw a bunch of counts at you because they ultimately want you to plead to something.”

Bryan also claimed that the police poked fun at his child star status and nicknamed him “Country Club Zach.” Of the charges, he added, “I could’ve fought it, but that’s more stress and drama. I got two misdemeanors and called it a day.”

Cartwright alleged Bryan was abusive in the month leading up to the incident and claimed in the report that Bryan “pulled her hair,” punched her in the face, and “choked her” for approximately 45 seconds.

Bryan and Cartwright are still together. They got engaged in 2021 and share three children. Bryan also has four children from his previous marriage.

Bryan’s most recent arrest is the latest in a long line of legal troubles that he has faced. In addition to his 2020 assault charges, he was booked for a DUI in May of that same year. THR reports he pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced to five years of probation and 18 months in a multiple-offender alcohol program, due to past DUI arrests in 2004, 2007, and 2017.

After becoming a teen heartthrob on Home Improvement, Bryan made appearances on hit TV shows including Burn Notice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Veronica Mars. In 2009, he booked a role on the big screen as a villain in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. He officially quit acting in 2009 and has since opened up about his struggles with alcohol abuse and finding work in the wake of his childhood success.
