Guilty pleas have been entered by the local man who caused the death of his infant son in Glens Falls last July, Warren County District Attorney Jason Carusone announced on Tuesday.

Tyler Zaugg, 20, pleaded guilty in Warren County Court to second-degree assault and first-degree manslaughter, both violent felonies.

The pleas stem from acts that Zaugg committed on June 29, 2021, through July 4, 2021.

He is expected to be sentenced to 32 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Police said that Zaugg hit his infant son with a closed fist in the head and torso, causing a brain injury and cracked ribs.

On July 4, Glens Falls Police arrested Tyler Zaugg after responding to an EMS call at the Broad Street Commons apartment complex, 186 Broad St., which came in shortly before 6 p.m. Police said that officers observed the infant to have life-threatening injuries.

Officers believed that Zaugg had caused the injuries, according to police.

It was previously reported that Delaney Locke, Zaugg’s girlfriend and the mother of the infant, told police that Zaugg was watching the child while she was away at her mother’s residence.

Locke noticed the infant’s bruises at Albany Medical Center. She told police that Zaugg became upset when she asked if he knew what happened

The child spent almost two weeks in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.

Carusone thanked the law enforcement agencies that conducted a thorough investigation. Those agencies included state police and the Glens Falls Police Department.

Carusone also thanked medical personnel, 911 operators and first responders for the efforts made to save the child.

Zaugg waived his right to appeal, and Warren County Judge Robert Smith sent him to Warren County Jail pending sentencing, which is scheduled for the morning of April 7.

A teaching assistant at a New Port Richey elementary school has been arrested after deputies say she exchanged drugs with a 17-year-old and 18-year-old in her apartment.

Pasco deputies say they arrested 20-year-old Marina Deetz after detectives began a possible overdose death investigation on Wednesday of an 18-year-old boy. According to the sheriff’s office, Deetz works at Moon Lake Elementary.

During that investigation, deputies say a 17-year-old witness told them he and the 18-year-old who died were at Deetz’s apartment when she gave them Fentanyl. The 17-year-old told deputies that, in return for the Fentanyl, he and the 18-year-old shared cocaine with Deetz and gave her $50.

According to an arrest report, the 17-year-old also told deputies Deetz cut the drugs on black dishes from her kitchen and all three snorted it through a blue straw. Deputies noted in the arrest report they later found the black dishes and blue straw in the apartment.

The arrest report also says deputies found small baggies in her apartment that tested positive for Fentanyl.

After she was taken into custody, deputies say Deetz confirmed she did cocaine with both teens but denied giving them Fentanyl.

Deetz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession/delivery of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.

No other information has been released on the death of the 18-year-old. Deputies have not said whether or not there is a connection between his overdose and Deetz’s arrest.

Gerry Charlebois 78 Arrested For Honking Horn At Freedom Convoy

Gerry Charlebois ottawa

Gerry Charlebois a 78 year old Great Grandfather from Ottawa Canada was arrested for honking his horn at the Freedom Convoy that is currently occupying Canada’s Capital City. According to police reports Gerry Charlebois was showing support to the Freedom Convoy and would honk his vehicle’s horn and gave a thumbs up sign however this has now been declared illegal. The four foot ten Gerry Charlebois  was rather violently taken to the ground by Ottawa police as Freedom Convoy members yelled an assortment of abuses toward the police officer for the way they were dealing with Gerry Charlebois. In the end Gerry Charlebois ended up with a $110 fine and Ottawa Police have yet another incident they will have to explain. Make Sure To Check Out The Video Below

The 78-year-old great-grandfather arrested and handcuffed by Ottawa Police after honking his horn in support for a protesting trucker said he was not a protester and was not looking for any trouble.

“I meant no harm,” Gerry Charlebois told the Toronto Sun in an interview. “I just gave the trucker a thumbs-up and a honk.”

At the same time as concerns over honking in the city reached a fever pitch, Ottawa Police pulled over an elderly, retired Ottawa-area high school janitor.

He was not charged criminally but given a $118 bylaw ticket for “unnecessary noise.” But he did receive a physical takedown he won’t soon forget.

“I’m so sore,” said the father of four children, grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of four. “It hurts so much.”

The cuts and bruises on his arms and hands, shoulder and knee are evident. A shade of black and blue is more evident Tuesday, his family say.

Video footage of Sunday’s disturbing arrest, and agitators yelling at police during the incident, is being shared around the world.

Charlebois, who is double vaccinated and planning to get his booster shot, said he was “confused” during the incident at the corner of Besserer and Friel Sts., about four blocks from the main protest.

“I was in shock,” Charlebois said. “When (the police) pulled me over, he told me I was in trouble for honking the horn.”

While the video shows he cussed at the officer, Charlebois said he respects police “but I was just upset with him.” He said he had never before been arrested or on the wrong side of police.

“Never,” he said. “He just pissed me off when he said that about the honking. It upset me.”

Things deteriorated from there.

After attempting to get his identification from his wallet in the back of his minivan, Charlebois was taken down with the twisting of his arm and hand, and landed on one knee on the ground before being pressed against his van and then, with the help of a second officer, handcuffed behind his back.

His family is horrified.

“He’s just 4 foot 10,” his son Steve said. “He wouldn’t hurt anybody.”

His sons can’t understand why, with all of the rhetoric about it being a fringe minority from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, it was their father who ended up being the one scapegoated.

“They didn’t seem to arrest any of those big truckers like that,” another son, Gerald, said.

The size and age difference with the much younger and larger officer further angered both Gerald and Steve.

“I find it disgusting,” Gerald said. “There was no need to be so rough with him.”

With a “very messed-up shoulder” and having difficult moving his arm, Steve said of his dad: “We may have to take him to the hospital for an X-ray.”

On Tuesday morning, Gerald said he was “more sore today than yesterday.”

Neither Ottawa Police nor Mayor Jim Watson have commented so far

Charlebois said he just drove into the area to take a look at the trucks and was planning on getting out of his van and walking to Parliament Hill.

“That’s why I put my wallet in the back of the van,” he said. “I was hoping to go in there, but when I got there I saw all of the commotion. I decided it was too much so I just looked from the van and then started to head home.”

Now he wonders if it would have been better if he had not gone to the protest zone instead.

However, the history is written. This was a senior citizen born in 1943, forcefully arrested and ticketed for unnecessary noise after honking his horn in support of a trucker.

Caleb Kennedy Charged In Fatal DUI

caleb kennedy

Former American Idol contestant Caleb Kennedy has been charged in a fatal DUI that has left a man dead in South Carolina. According to police reports Caleb Kennedy was driving a 2011 Ford pickup when he struck a building killing a man inside. Caleb Kennedy would be arrested and when his alcohol level was tested he was well over the legal limit. The former American Idol contestant was charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death and remains in a county jail

Caleb Kennedy More News

Former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Kennedy has been charged with a felony DUI after a fatal crash in his home state of South Carolina.

South Carolina Highway Patrol master trooper Mitchell Ridgeway confirmed to USA TODAY on Tuesday that the country singer, 17, has been “charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death,” after driving a 2011 Ford Pickup into a building.

A person inside the building sustained a fatal injury as a result of the collision, Ridgeway said.

The crash, which occurred Tuesday at approximately 12:41 p.m. on a private road in Spartanburg County, remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to Ridgeway, the driver of the vehicle was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center. The second person that was in the building was also taken to the hospital, then died from their injuries.

Caleb Kennedy began his “Idol” journey in October 2020 and eventually made it to the Top 5 before abruptly leaving the show after a controversial social media post resurfaced online. In a Snapchat post, Kennedy appeared beside someone wearing what seems to be a Ku Klux Klan hood.

“Now that I’m home, I try to be me, but I’m also scared of someone videoing me when I go to Academy or Walmart. You have to worry about things like that now,” Kennedy told the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, in June 2021.

While speaking about his time on the show, Kennedy admitted he underestimated the pressures of performing on a popular show like “Idol.”

“You think it’s all going to be fun, and a lot of it is, but it will slap you in the face really quickly. I wasn’t ready for it,” he said. “There’s no way to emotionally prepare for ‘Idol.’ Because no one is ready for it, no matter how you prepare.”

However, he noted that he didn’t have regrets despite the challenges, adding “I did love it.”

Last May, viewers were surprised when Kennedy failed to appear on the show to perform alongside the season’s Top 5 contestants. Host Ryan Seacrest barely touched on Kennedy’s absence on air, saying at the top of the show that the high school student “will not be continuing in the competition.”

However, in a virtual Q&A after the show, judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan gave their thoughts on the controversy. “First and foremost, as judges and as a judges panel, we love these kids, and we get emotionally involved,” Bryan said. “We wish nothing but the best for Caleb, and it does make for a very, very challenging and upsetting week.”

Richie added that he hoped the controversy would be a learning experience for the teenager. “We grow up, and we make mistakes, and we look at our lives behind us many, many times, and we say, ‘God, what was I thinking about when I did that?’ This is one of those situations,” he said.

Kennedy took to Instagram to apologize and officially announce his departure on May 12.

“Hey y’all, this is gonna be a bit of a surprise, but I am no longer gonna be on ‘American Idol,’ ” he wrote. “There was a video that surfaced on the internet and it displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way. I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that’s not an excuse. I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone who I have let down.”

Kennedy’s family told the Herald-Journal at the time that the video was recorded when he was 12, and his mother, Anita Guy, said the video “was taken after Caleb had watched the movie ‘The Strangers: Prey at Night’ and they were imitating those characters.”

“Caleb doesn’t have a racist bone in his body,” she added.

A woman from Oak Cliff admitted to convincing her boyfriend to shoot and kill her husband and has plead guilty to orchestrating the murder.

It was a year ago this month when prosecutors charged Jennifer Lynne Faith with obstruction of justice. Later that year they added a murder-for-hire charge, an offense that carries a potential death sentence.

Faith, 49, plead guilty on February 7, 2022. In return for her plea, prosecutors agreed to drop the obstruction charge and to recommend a sentence of life imprisonment.

“Jennifer Faith’s cold-blooded plot to murder her husband was made all the more heinous by the way she behaved after his death. Even as she wept for her late husband on TV, Ms. Faith was corresponding with his murderer, plotting about how to cover up their crime,” said U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham.

According to plea papers, Faith admitted that her boyfriend, Darrin Lopez, 49, gunned down her husband, American Airlines technology director Jamie Faith, in Oct. of 2020 in front of his home in Oak Cliff.

Faith admitted she knew Lopez – whom she called her “one and only love” – had suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving in the Army in Iraq, leaving him disabled. Both before and after the murder, she sent Lopez money and gifts, and even gave him two credit cards which she paid off using the proceeds of a “Support Jennifer Faith” GoFundMe fundraiser launched in the wake of her husband’s death.

She also admitted that before the murder, she used two phony email accounts to correspond with Lopez, assuming the identities of her own husband and one of her friends in order to falsely convince Lopez that her husband was physically and sexually abusing her. (In plea papers, Faith admitted no such abuse ever occurred.)

Seven months into her relationship with Lopez, Jennifer Faith left her home with her husband to walk their dog. One minute into their walk, Lopez – who allegedly drove from his home in Tennessee, to the Faiths’ home in Dallas, where he laid in wait – allegedly shot Jamie Faith seven times before fleeing in his black pickup.
