The Chatham County Police Department has announced Leilani Simon, the mother of missing toddler Quinton Simon, has been charged with murder in the child’s death.

In a series of tweets Monday, CCPD said:

” The Chatham County Police Department has arrested 22-year-old Leilani Simon and charged her with murder in connection with the disappearance and death of her son, 20-month-old Quinton Simon.

Leilani Simon reported her son missing from their home on October 5, 2022. Since that time, millions of people have followed Quinton’s case and have been awaiting answers.

We will be releasing more details soon, and Chief Hadley will meet with news media. However, we wanted to report this development to you without delay. We are deeply saddened by this case, but we are thankful that we are one step closer to justice for little Quinton.”

The Chatham County Police Department has arrested Leilani Simon for the death of her son, Quinton Simon.

According to the police department, 22-year-old Leilani Simon has been arrested and charged with murder. She was taken into custody on Monday, Nov. 21 and will be held at the Chatham County Jail while she awaits a bond hearing.

She reported her 20-month-old son, Quinton, missing on Oct. 5.

Leilani Simon, 22, was arrested on Monday, more than six weeks after Quinton Simon vanished from their home in Savannah, Georgia. Leilani reported her son missing on October 5 and the search for him went on to make national headlines.

‘Millions of people have followed Quinton’s case and have been awaiting answers,’ tweeted the Chatham County Police Department.

‘We are deeply saddened by this case, but we are thankful that we are one step closer to justice for little Quinton.’

On Monday night, Police Chief Jeff Hadley confirmed that law enforcement officials had located human remains and that a DNA analysis on them was underway.

‘What happened to the child is unthinkable,’ said Hadley.
